My life was fine the way it was. But that’s all it was—fine. Not great. Not exciting. Not amazing. Just fine. Having spent time with Alyssa, I’ve realized I need more. Only if I have the guts to take it.
We stand under the spray in silence for about ten minutes until Alyssa tips her face up to me. “You’re quiet. You look so serious.” I swipe water off her face, noticing that her skin feels cooler. “What are you thinking about?” she asks.
Not ready to say what’s in my heart, I focus on what’s happening with Alyssa. “Your fever has dropped. That’s a good sign. You can get out of the shower now.”
Nodding, she pulls away. I turn the water off, and we carefully step out of the shower. I hand her a towel and pat my face dry with another. She wraps the towel around her, and I glanceaway. She may be sick, but she looks sexy as hell in lace underwear.
“I’ll get you something to wear,” I say. “I’ll be right back.”
Scurrying out of the bathroom, I take a deep breath to try to control my racing heart and keep my cock from stirring to life. I need to remind myself that she’s sick. What kind of sicko am I to ogle her?
I find what I need, and head back to the bathroom to find her black, lacy underwear flung over the shower door. I swallow hard. That means she’s naked under the white, fluffy towel. Holy fuck!
I pass her a t-shirt and boxers. Clearing my throat, I say, “These will be too big, but that’s all I have.”
She smiles. “Thank you.” The color has returned to her face.
“How are you feeling?” I ask.
“Better. The shower helped a lot. Thank you for staying with me. The way I was feeling, I would have face-planted the floor.”
“No problem. I’ll leave you to get dressed.”
Grabbing another towel from the vanity counter, I bring it into the bedroom. I peel off my wet jeans, t-shirt, and underwear and toss them into a corner of the room, then I wipe my body dry.
“Oh, sorry,” Alyssa gasps behind me. Spinning around, I see that she has her back toward me. “I should have warned you I was entering the room.”
“It’s okay.” I wrap the towel around my waist. “You can turn around now. I’m decent.”
Turning around, her eyes widen. “You said you were decent.” She waves a hand up and down the length of my body. “That isnotdecent.”
“The main parts are covered. Have you gotten shy, Miss Alyssa?”
Putting her hand on her hip, she gives a jaunty shrug. The neckline of the t-shirt she’s wearing slips off her shoulder. Fuck, she’s sexy, and she’s not even trying. “I’m not shy. If I need to convince you of that…you have a great ass.”
I choke on a laugh. “Had a good look, did you? You must be feeling better.” Her natural olive complexion is back. I’m relieved that the worst is over.
“I might be sick, but there’s nothing wrong with my eyes.” She grins.
I shake my head. “I’m about to drop the towel to get dressed.” I hold her gaze like I’m challenging her. Will she turn around? Or prove again that she’s not shy?
“Areyouthe shy one? You’ve got nothing I haven’t seen before.” She tests back.
When I slip my fingers into the knot of the towel, her gaze flicks to my hands. “I’m not shy.” I loosen the towel and slowly open it.
What is it about Alyssa that makes me act this way? Like she’s sucking all the seriousness out of me and filling me with fun. Who am I? I’m liking this side of myself.
She whips around, giving me her back. I smile with satisfaction. Not so brave, are you, Miss Alyssa?
I slip on sweatpants and a t-shirt. Normally I sleep naked, but with Alyssa sharing the bed, clothes are a must. Once dressed, I say, “Okay, now I really am decent.”
Turning around, she scans me from head to toe, giving me an appreciative glance. It’s hot enough to burn my clothes right off. Why bother getting dressed if she’s going to look at me like that?
She moves to the bed and hesitates at the edge. “I’m tired. I should…arhhh…” She hooks a thumb toward the bed. “Go to sleep.”
I know what she’s thinking, because it’s the same as what I’m thinking. We have to share a bed. It will be a long night sleeping next to Alyssa. That’s if I can get any sleep with her warm body so close to mine.
“Are you sure you don’t want me to put pillows between us to make you more comfortable?” I ask.
