I just hope that we find something that can help point us in the right direction of finding our father’s bride.

Chapter Eleven

Serenity

Three months later…

I’m tired of being constantly watched.

The only place I can be alone is when I’m in the washroom. Sure, I get to go out sometimes and see Hell and what everyone does, but sometimes it feels like its just “Bring Lust’s Bride to work day” when I do.

Maybe I sound ungrateful because I have a family now and people that care about me, but I want to go topside and do something.

There are more and more demons escaping hell, and they are trying to figure out who is letting them out.

The freaky part is that some of them go into hiding, and they can’t seem to find them. Lucifer usually knows where all his demons are, but something is blocking him from being able to find them.

I had made a special supper for Silas. I wanted it to be just us tonight. Thankfully, Lucifer told me to let him or the staff know of anything I needed.

I wanted to try my hand at cooking and, since I knew Silas wasn’t picky and pretty much ate anything, I picked something that looked good to me.

One thing I learned is that cooking is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.

I have music blasted and the recipe is on the counter. I spend hours in the kitchen making pasta from scratch; it seems I can’t do anything simple. I decided it didn’t look hard to make some spinach and cheese ravioli. To top that, I am making a creamy, sauce with sundried tomatoes. Everything I had made was from scratch; I had a lot of time on my hands. I tasted as I went along and it tasted good to me. We will see what Silas thinks of it.

I grabbed a bunch of wine from Lucifer’s wine cellar. He had helped me pick some that would go well with my meal. I’m not big on wine, but I wanted to try new things today.

I’m plating up the food when the music stops. I turn around to see Silas with a massive smile on his face.

“This is a beautiful sight to come home to,” Silas tells me as he walks closer and pulls me into his arms.

“Perfect timing. I was just plating everything up,” I tell him.

“What made you do all of this for me?” he asks as he grabs the plates and brings them to the table. I grab the glasses and wine.

“I just wanted to try cooking, and I felt like cooking for my man. I’ve never really cooked much; mostly foods that came in a package and you could heat in the microwave, so I can’t promise that any of this will be any good,” I tell him nervously.

“I hear your warning. I’m sure it will be fine. My father tells me you have been in here all day, and it smells wonderful,” he tells me.

“I taste tested along the way, so I have hopes that it will be good,” I say.

We take our seats and I watch as Silas takes a bite, watching for any kind of reaction.

He’s silent for a moment, but then he looks at me with a small smile and says, “It’s amazing, babe.”

I’m immediately filled with pride. I worked so hard on dinner today.

There is something satisfying about watching someone enjoy something you have made.

Throughout dinner, Silas tells me about his day. At some point, we end up on the couch with me on his lap as he tells me stories about his family.

The pride he has when he talks about them is amazing.

I could tell he would do anything for them.

The conversation stops, but he seems content and happy just to be with me right there in that moment. It makes the decision to kiss him easy.

I kiss him soft and slowly, taking my time.
