I groaned. “Starving.”
“For food,” he clarified with a shaky grin.
My ears grew hot. “Yes. That.”
“Then let’s get breakfast.”
I didn’t want to move. Cameron was in my arms like a knot I didn’t want undone.
Then he was up and heading for the door, providing me with a glorious view of his lean form.
He has the perfect arse.
I lay there, my mind replaying every moan, every sensation.
Pleasure without shame would take some getting used to, but I meant to try.
I walked into the kitchen. Cameron was barefoot, his hair mussed, wearing last night’s T-shirt—my T-shirt, actually—and humming under his breath whatever song was playing on his phone.
The sight felt like a blow to my chest. It was so… domestic. Comfortable.
Cameron cracked eggs into a bowl, and the sound dragged me back into the moment.
“Sit,” he said. “Before you overthink yourself into combusting.”
I sat on the couch. Overthinking was a habit that was ingrained, one I didn’t think I could stop. The music ended, and I concentrated on watching Cameron.
He cooked like he sketched, instinctively, freely, with ease. I watched the movement of his shoulders, the curve of his back, the way his hips swayed slightly with the music.
He looks like he belongs here.
Cameron handed me a mug of coffee, and our fingers brushed. I felt the contact all the way to my ribs. Then he went back to buttering toast and stirring eggs.
I generally liked my mornings quiet.
I could get to like this kind of morning.
Cameron brought over two plates, and sat beside me on the couch, our knees bumping. We ate in silence for a moment, but it didn’t feel awkward.
I never knew silence could feel full.
When he was done, Cameron set his plate down on the chest/coffee table. “So.”
I stiffened. “So?”
He smiled. “We should probably talk about… us.”
My pulse jumped. I reached for my mug, forgot it was empty, and set it back down.
“Can I be practical for a second?” Cameron bit his lip. “You get tested, so… is that something I should think about too? Even if the only person I intend going to bed with is sitting right in front of me?”
“It’s a good habit to get into.” Anddamn, his words made me feel amazing.
He only wants me.Me.
He smiled. “So the next time you go wherever it is you… go, I’ll go with you.”
I managed a nod.
