“I’d take ‘em all out.” After a beat he said, “The onlycreviceI’m goin’ near is yours.”

She shot him a smile before confirming they weren’t being followed. Twice more, he stopped and waited.

Once at the Black Site, as they were making their way inside, Caroline texted Addison. “We’re here.”

Seconds later, Addison and Slash strode toward them. Both women were dressed in black, both had ski masks in their hands.

“Let’s get you changed,” Slash said.

“Have you met Slash?” Addison asked.

Grey had, but Caroline hadn’t.

After introductions, Grey said, “You’re close with my grandmother, Elsa.”

Slash smiled. “I adore her. I heard you’re the renegade the fam’s been talking about. Being a black sheep myself, I can relate.” She shot Caroline a smile. “I read your file. I’m stoked to have you on board.” She flicked her gaze back to Grey. “You’re alive because of her.”

He shot Caroline a smile. “Don’t I know it.”

The group hurried toward the locker rooms.

“Your clothes and armor are on the bench,” Slash said to Grey. “Wait for us here. We’ll take you to Haqazzii.”

In the women’s locker room, Caroline got busy changing into her gear.

After a beat, Slash said, “You were on a date.”

Caroline said nothing as she regarded Slash.

Addison folded Caroline’s discarded outfit. “This is hella sexy. I wear something like this when I’m looking for a little fun with the hubs.”

Caroline bit back a smile, but stayed focused on getting dressed in the black clothes. As she pulled on the turtleneck shirt, Slash asked, “How long were you his handler?”

“Three years.”

“They look good together,” Addison said to Slash. “Don’t you think?”

“One-hundred percent,” Slash replied. “Do you think they know how they feel about each other?”

“Well, they’re not stupid,” Addison said with a smirk. “Did you see how he looks at her?”

“He can’t take his eyes off her.”

“Okay, fine,” Caroline said as she zipped up the black pants. “We like each other. Do I have to tell HR?”

“Eventually,” Addison said.

“I want to find out what that son of a bitch knows,” Caroline said as she slipped into the Kevlar jacket.

“How’d you even recognize him?” Slash asked. “He doesn’t look anything like his mug shot.”

“He’s got a pronounced scar near his left eye.”

“So?” Slash said.

“Grey showed us photos of him from the asset,” Caroline explained. “His crooked teeth are too big for his mouth.”

“The devil’s in the details,” Addison said.
