“I will admit it, I do want you…” Leaning forward, my lips brushed his, our heat filling the space, “I want you to shut the fuck up.”

Letting go of him, I rolled back off and headed towards the bathroom. I needed to cool off and wash away these feelings, his very being rattled my brain and although he had admitted in some ways that I filled the very spaces of his mind, we couldn’t complete the bond as it would surely mean our deaths.

Splashing cold water against my face not only gave me a chill, but it felt refreshing enough to cool the thoughts in my mind. I did want him, I wanted all of him, and it annoyed the shit out of me.

I couldn’t, shouldn’t, want him, he was a creature I had been made to wipe from this earth. The Gods had to be joking with me by making him my mate, it had to be a test, and I wasn’t about to fail it.

And, if we completed this bond and it ended up with him dying, I don’t think I could come back from that. The pain I had already felt just from his injuries worried me, what level of pain would it be if he died? If anything, I should be the one to kill him, not someone else, and definitely not for some bullshit spell.

Where was Jackson? Surely, he knew we had been taken, was he gathering a team of our best witches and fighters? Ready to storm the castle? Or had he become that stupid and decided to leave Darius and I, despite everything that had happened? No, that couldn’t be it.

“I can feel your frustration behind the door.”

Looking in the mirror, Darius leaned against the doorframe, shirtless with his arms across his chest. His appearance could have made any girl weak at the knees begging for him to take her, but I had other things to think about.

“I’m annoyed at Jackson.”

“Oh, and here I thought you were thinking of me.”

Rolling my eyes, I sighed.

“Not everything is about you – I need to get a message to him somehow, maybe he doesn’t know where we are.”

“Well, he’s a witch, isn’t he?”

“Yes.”

“And, do you have any connection with him?”

“Connection?”

“Yeah, you know, blood, energy, that type of thing?”

My eyes shot up then when the realisation hit me, we did share an energy connection only days ago, when we broke my mother’s spell and uncovered the folder containing all of the hybrid secrets.

Mentally hitting myself for not protecting it better, and certainly for not reading the entire thing when I had the chance, it may have mentioned something about the bond. Maybe that’s why my mother wanted me to have it originally? Did she know?

“We did a spell a few days ago, so he may still have some of my energy in him.”

“Okay great, that means we can send him a message telepathically.”

“If you haven’t noticed Darius, I’m not a witch.”

“Yes, but you were created by a witch. Jackson should be able to feel that connection from you. I will show you what to do.”

Coming up behind me, he fixed my posture, and brought my head up to look in the mirror while he stood behind me, his hands placed gently on my waist while I steadied myself against the sink counter.

“Now, close your eyes and relax your breathing – Counting one, two, three as you breathe in, and one, two, three as you breathe out.”

I did as he instructed and felt my shoulders relax, although my heart was going a million miles an hour with this closeness between us, the heat from his hands warming my body.

“Good, that’s good. Now picture Jackson, search for him in your mind’s eye, feel for his mind – Can you see him?”

“No.” I said sharply, opening my eyes suddenly. “I’m not a witch, I don’t have the skills.”

“Yes, you do.”
