Serena kneeled down and turned Darius around with ease, placing a hand on his chest, I watched as light beamed out of her hand over his wound, and when she removed it, the wound was gone. She then did the same to his face and arms, running her hands down him fixing any of his wounds.

“Hayley.”

“Wait, what?” I looked around to see who had spoken my name, but Angelique was busy watching Serena, and mother was still knocked out on the floor.

“Hayley, you, and my son have not fully bonded yet. I can only help him so much, but he needs your strength. Together you can both defeat Angelique and Jacqueline.”

Serena, she was speaking to me telepathically. I had only ever known one other witch who could do such a thing, and that was Jackson. After the death of his boyfriend though, he stopped.

I looked at Serena then as she continued to heal Darius, trying to remove the shock from my face as Angelique began to speak once more.

“Serena, I don’t think Jac meant to hurt Darius, but when prisoners don’t do as they’re told, we must use methods of persuasion.”

“Any more methods used, and I will see you all put to daylight.”

“Put to daylight?”I asked, hoping she’d hear me.

“Pushed out into the sunlight.”

“Why am I here?”

“Angelique is under the impression she can use the magic created by your bond, and your blood to become completely immortal.”

“And, who told her that?”

Serena looked away from me and back to Darius, giving me my answer, and in that moment, I wanted to grab her by the throat and rip her jugular out, however I had just watched her throw my mother across the room with simple magic, and I didn’t dare wonder what she could do to me.

“Apologies Serena, as always we are at your service.” Angelique herself bowed a little, and I became even more confused than before.

“Perhaps, we can set your son and Hayley up in a room to prepare for the ceremony tonight. They may wash, dress, and finish their bonding.”

Now I was starting to understand, well, slightly. Serena was clearly an all-powerful witch and if she had told Angelique that our bond, our blood could make her a true immortal, then she needed a witch to do the spell. Serena was that witch, and we were her tools.

“Yes, see to it that it happens, and they are not to be disturbed.”

Another clap, and a few vampires from the side-linesstepped towards us. A surprising growl escaped my lips as my body tensed, no vampire was going to touch me, and I’d be damned if I was going to be pushed or shoved again.

“I will take them both myself.” Serena ordered, and Angelique nodded without question.

“You, carry my son.”

Serena pointed at the short werewolf’s partner, and he lifted Darius up into his arms, and then she took my arm, linking it into hers as we left the room.

“Where are we going?”

“I will explain everything when we are alone, but for now stop asking questions and do everything I say.”

“How can I trust you?”

“You can’t, but I am your only hope for getting out here alive.”

“Wait.”I stopped suddenly as the werewolf continued up a set of stairs, “Where is Eric?”

“Is that the human Angelique has?”

“Yes, is she holding him here against his will?”

“Oh, my dear.” She paused, refusing to look at me. “He was the one who told us about Darius, and where to find you both. He’s not here against his will, he’s Angelique’s lover.”
