“I didn’t grow up spoiled, I was treated the same as everyone else in that household. I may even have been treated harsher because there were more things expected of me.”

He still had his bare back to me, showing me his broad shoulders, and the lines at the base of his back. He was covered in scars. They were dotted around his back and the tops of his forearms.

“How did you get those scars?”

He half turned to me, and then looked away as I began to wrap the towel around myself again.

“You should rest.”

Stepping out of the room and shutting the door behind him, he left me alone in the dim light and part of me wanted to chase after him, but the other part felt he needed to be alone. As did I.

It had been a few hours, and I was sure Darius was now fast asleep. I laid on the bed in just his t-shirt and my underwear just staring up at the ceiling fan as it spun slowly, but there was no chill in the air.

My mind raced as a small ounce of guilt welled up inside me. I felt awful for shouting and fighting with him, which made no sense as I never felt any remorse. Normally, I would just move on with my day even if I had upset or angered someone.

But with Darius, I felt horrible, and I couldn’t sleep or shake the feeling off, no matter how much I tried. Closing my eyes tightly, I wished for sleep to bless me, take me from these emotions, and shut off completely. I had no such luck, and after another half hour passed, I grabbed my phone from the bedside table, and decided it was time to text Jackson to update him on what happened as I’m sure he was a little worried.

If I told you about ten werewolves or so had attacked my apartment, would you believe me?

Bitch, seriously? Are you alright? Where are you?

Would you believe me I told you I was lying in Darius' bed right now?

For God's sake Hay, you didn’t!?!!

And what happened to the file? Do you still have it!?

No, ffs no. He’s asleep on his sofa. And yes, I still have the file. Send a team to recon on my apartment and see how bad the damage is, also send a clean-up team, there were a lot of bodies.

Got it boss… You sure you’re alright? I mean, can we trust this dude?

For the moment, we have to.His place is pretty hidden, and I think for now I will lay low for a few days and see what happens.

OK. Just keep in touch. Will give you an update when I can. Get some sleep, night xx’

Throwing the phone down beside me, I yet again tried to close my eyes.

The soundof a loud whistle woke me up suddenly, and I was quick to grab my gun from under my pillow, pointing it sleepily at the bedroom door until I realised it wasn’t a normal whistle but the sound of something boiling.

Heading towards the kitchen, Darius stood at the stove, lifting up a whistling kettle and poured hot water into two mugs. His smile caught me off guard as he looked up at me, his eyes dazzling in the morning sunlight that beamed through the living room windows.

“Tea?”

“I’m sorry, what?”

“Ah, so you do know how to apologise?”

He winked at me while putting the kettle back down, and then he poured some milk into each mug and then two spoonsful of sugar.

“I said 'tea?' As in, would you like a cup of tea?”

“Oh, um, sure."

Clearing the room, he joined me on the other side of the counter and gave me the hot mug, before looking me up and down. I was still in his shirt and my panties, and he was enjoying the view judging by how long he lingered on my body.
