“Someone fucked up.”

I braced myself against the door and nodded. “Seems that way.”

“I’m getting over the shock.” Warren’s smooth voice sounded from right behind me. “And I’m not all that mad about it.”

A shiver went down my spine at the feeling of his body heat so close to me. Stepping back into the room, I hurried to the end of the bed, where my purse was, and glanced back at him. Still naked. “There was a woman with a cat, and I guess that’s what happened. I’ll go.”

“A cat?”

I cast one last long look at the view from the suite and shook my head. “Never mind. I’m going. This was not how I planned on starting this trip. I’m so sorry to interrupt.”

I groaned to myself when I realized I’d just apologized for interrupting his jacking off. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. I grabbed my purse and tried backing away without looking back at Warren. It wasn’t easy. He was beautiful. They’d always been beautiful, though. There’d always been something about them that made my blood heat up just a little bit too much.

“It’s good to see you, Cupcake. You look good.”

I frowned. “Thanks. Good to see you, too, I guess.”

“You don’t have to leave.”

My head snapped around to face him before I could think twice. “What?”

His crooked grin was so damn charming. It always had been. It was the defining thing about him that made it so clear that he was Warren and not his brothers. “Stay.”

A tingle went through my body as I stared into his face. He was older; his face was broader and stronger. There was a shadow of a beard across it, and those bright blue eyes weren’t as mean as I remembered them in my head. They were softer, sensual with thick black lashes that I could practically feel brushing across my skin. I repeated that same one-word question. “What?”

Warren smiled. “Stay, Cupcake.”

Chapter 2

I blinked at Warren, unsure if I was hearing him right or if I’d hit my head and fallen into some sex dream. There was no way that Warren Strickland was asking me to stay in his room with him. Not a chance.

“You’re beautiful. You were pretty as a girl, but you’re so damn stunning as a woman, it almost hurts to look at you.” He inched closer, and that smile slipped to reveal something hungrier. “Stay with me.”

My hand went to my throat like I was clutching for my pearls. I didn’t wear pearls, but I was feeling scandalized. “Why?”

“Why not?”

I fought to keep my eyes on his face, but he was so naked and so strong. Water droplets trailed down his chest and—Jesus, I wasn’t keeping my eyes on his face. I shook my head and forced a laugh. “Nice one, Warren. Good to see you still like to mess with people.”

Warren closed the gap between us and rested his hand on my hip. “Not messing with you.”

I sucked in a breath that smelled like pine and sunshine. My stomach tightened in a whole new way, and I felt butterflies take flight. He was serious. I could see it in his eyes. He was interested. “Do you always jump in bed with the first woman you see while horny?”

His other hand gripped my other hip and pulled me into his chest. The hardness of his erection pressed into my stomach, and his heat seeped through my clothes, along with his dampness.“I know what I want when I see it, Cupcake.”

“I can’t believe you’re still calling me that.” I sounded husky. Why did I sound so husky?

“You never did like that name, did you?” Warren smiled then, his perfect teeth showing like the big, bad wolf. “You never got it. You thought we were making fun of you.”

“You were.”

“Cupcakes are sweet and delicious, Sara. I’ve always had a sweet tooth.” He stroked my waist, an area that I didn’t like people touching. “Still do, apparently.”

My breath caught in my throat and I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out. What he was saying didn’t make sense. What I was doing didn’t make sense.

“Why don’t you stay? Let me indulge myself.”

“Macy. I can’t.”
