Phantom drops his gun and clutches my arm in alarm.

Panicked, I nuzzle the Alpha’s throat.

Phantom growls protectively.

The explosions must have broken the pheromone blockers.

The elation and strength of my emotions is making me transform into an Omega in the middle of our takeover of the facility.

My scent sweetens to caramel.

I howl, as my body transforms into Switch, and I tumble into heat.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX

Hunter Cabin, Blue Valley Woods

Inuzzle in Joker’s arms. Waves of heat hit me, but I am relieved to be naked.

Joker smells deliciously of peaches and honey. I take another deep sniff of his neck, starting to purr.

“Beautiful.” Joker studies me with a soft tenderness. “That’s right, baby, take what you need from your Beta who is good enough to devour. I’m here.”

“You’re safe, Switch,” Bird adds, hurriedly building a nest with the coarse green blankets in the center of the bed.

He strips off his clothes, adding them to firm up the walls.

Bird scoops the scattered clothes off the floor, which I recognize as belonging to Joker. He weaves those into the nest as well.

I am vaguely aware that I am back in the Hunter Cabin. Moonlight bathes my face, and the scent of pine is soothing from the open window.

A wave of heat washes over me. Slick gushes from my pussy.

My mind is filled, however, with smoke, flames, and the hazy memory of a bumpy, panicked journey back to the cabin.

Joker must have driven faster than a racing car driver because trembling in my heat on the back seat, it’d felt like flying.

I’m forgetting something.

Something important.

Dangerous.

I whimper.

Joker strokes my hair, calming me. “How about hurrying up with that nest?”

Bird sits back, wrapping his arms around himself. “I’ve placed drinks and snacks by the bed. The nest is built. But you may have noticed the essential Alpha is missing.”

I give a sad chirp.

Alpha.

My Alpha isn’t here.

That’s what I’m forgetting.

My Alpha.
