“I’m going to get you that house the minute we get home, baby. Six bedrooms, three bathrooms, three-car garage, bigbackyard for the kids. Maybe two more. Or three,” Ducane said massaging my scalp.

“That sounds good, baby.” Before I knew it, I had drifted off to sleep.

“Ducane, we said we’d meet them at the beach in fifteen minutes,” I said as he pulled my dress up and slid in. I moaned and leaned forward as he filled me. We had no business fitting a quickie into what was supposed to be family time.

With three kids and a marriage on its second life, that man still reached for me every time he found me in a room. It didn’t matter who was around or where we were. It was a blessing to have a man who loved me and liked me too. Airalynn had been right. Fine was never going to be enough for me. Especially now.

My husband gave his family everything he swore his own father never gave him.

“We’re on the island that brought us back together, and you want me to be cute about it. No ma’am.” His nails dug into myflesh, making me arch my body into him more. I was chasing him like my next hit.

When Ducane’s large hand wrapped around my neck, giving me goosebumps, I remembered why I’d never be able to deny the man anything he wanted.

More kids…his.

More of me…his.

More lovin…his.

“Ouu baby right fuckin there.”

He growled behind me, going harder. Within a few more strokes, we were both breathless, staring at each other with a fire that never went out.

“I love life with you, baby. Real fuckin bad,” he said, kissing my shoulder and letting my dress drop. “Let’s shower real quick before Dena busts in here fussin.”

He put me over his shoulder and walked us into the bathroom in the master suite. When he put me on my feet, tears came to my eyes. I was so happy and feeling so blessed.

The house was mine. I’d wanted a place on Infinity Island since the trip that gave me my husband back. I told Ducane I wanted somewhere we could bring the kids, somewhere they could learn to swim and put their feet in the sand, our own slice of paradise. He told me to find it. So, I did.

I worked with an agent for eight months, flew back twice without him, walked through eleven houses until I stood in this one and knew. I picked it. I negotiated it. I signed first, and he signed after me. When the woman put the keys in my hand, Ducane celebrated with an actual Mariachi band. He was so proud of me it was sickening.

But he had every reason to be. I graduated from college a few months ago and took over the Communications Department for Shane & Simmons. I was proud of myself. This was my push gift,if you will. I’d pushed myself to get the life I deserved. But the best part was having him right beside me.

He was even flying my sister and her family in to see it and spend the week with us. He and Carter had buried the hatchet. I knew that hadn't been easy for Ducane, but he’d done it anyway because family still meant something to him.

Ducane turned the water on and tested it with his hand while I stepped out of my dress. Steam came up quickly. He got in behind me and reached for the soap before I could, running it over my shoulders and down my back, taking his time in a way that had nothing to do with getting clean and everything to do with him just wanting his hands on me.

“Keep touching me like that, and Dena really will have to come find us,” I said.

“Let her ass come. We are in a vacation home we purchased with cash. I’m on yo ass in every room of this place.”

I pushed him back with a giggle because if not, I was going to go back home pregnant…again.

We finished our shower and made it to the patio that led to our own slice of heaven. “Thank you, my love.”

“Skye, I’m going to forever give you the desires of your heart. And you earned this shit and not even because of me. Because you graduated from college, you’re raising three kids, wifing like a muthafucka, loving, working I could go on.”

“No need, baby.”

I climbed onto his lap and snuggled up closer.

“It was always supposed to be this way, Skye. You, me, and a couple of kids. Successful, it didn’t matter if we were rich. We’d be rich in love. We made it, baby girl.”

I tried to crawl into my man's skin. I was so close, and he never complained. We sat that way until we heard little feet against the marble floors.
