“Is that so?”
I start to nod but loud cheering and whooping comes from the table next to ours, and we see Twitch and Brass, giving their own lap dances to their dates.Rocky starts laughing and pointing while Raegan and I follow in on the fun.Stone and Beckett start shaking their heads, but let their brothers have a good time.Allison and Blaze are making out and in their own world as the night continues.
It’s beenfour weeks since we’ve been back from Las Vegas for Raegan and Stone’s surprise wedding.It was so much fun hanging out with Ivy again, and it made me realize how much I missed having our girl time.
I’ve been living in this house for over two months now.I think it’s time to take my life back.I don’t want to put things on hold anymore.I want to move forward in a relationship with Beckett and Zane.
“Knock, knock!”I hear called out as I leave the master bedroom.
As I round the corner, I see Melissa coming in.She’s been great over the last few weeks.Her loving, nurturing side makes me miss my mama something fierce.
“Thought I’d swing by and see if you needed anything,” she says coming over and giving me a hug.
“I think I’m good.How are you doing?”I ask as we walk into the kitchen.
“I’m good, just dropped Annie off with Allison.We had a sleepover since I don’t have any shifts at the hospital the next few days,” she says as I offer her a drink.“Phillip and Rocky are building her a massive playground in the backyard.She and I were the supervisors.
“How has Phillip been doing?”I ask.
Her husband was the former president of the MC but was in an accident that left him in a wheelchair for years.Recently, they’ve found a surgery and treatment that has helped him learn to use his legs again.He can’t stand or walk for long periods of time, but he’s been improving every week.
“He’s doing great!”Melissa smiles.You can tell she so happy with his progress.“Stubborn, but all our men are.”
“I hear that,” I laugh.
“Speaking of…” she pauses for a second.“I was wondering when you’re going to move houses and finally become that beautiful family that everyone is rooting for?”
I suck in a quick breath.I want to make that move, but I’m scared of what will happen when my papa finds out I’m still in town.The thought of someone getting hurt because of me makes my stomach lurch.
I feel a hand over mine and I look up to Melissa.
“I want to, but…”
“It can be a scary thing but just know that these men will protect you with their life.This thing with your father will pass; the MC will handle it.Take a leap and start living your life,” she gently tells me.
“I’ve been thinking about it over the last few days.I mean they’re both over here all the time, and it’d be nice to finally settle somewhere to call home.”
“Then do it, honey,” she urges.“Plus, I selfishly need this house.”
“What?”I ask.“I thought you said that Phillip?—”
“Oh gosh, no, that man is stuck with me.”She waves off where my mind was going.“The boys have been pressuring me to let Rocky have his own place, and I’ve been saying no.But I think this is the perfect place if we’re going to let him try.He’ll be between his two brothers, and we are only two streets over.Of course, the only way for me to agree to this is if we put up cameras everywhere and have Hawk load this place up with the best security features.”
“I think he’d love it here.Especially being so close to Stone, Blaze, and Beckett,” I tell her.
“I think so too, but I haven’t decided yet.And I haven’t told anyone either.Was hoping you could help me out with the surprise,” she reveals.
“How can I help?”
“Thought maybe you could spruce up the place and have Rocky help you.Find out all his favorite paint colors and y’all do the projects.He’ll never know that you’re turning the house into exactly what he’d want.I’d cover all the materials and cost for everything.”
“I love that idea.I’ve been going stir crazy being here with nothing to do,” I tell her.
Her face breaks into a smile.
“It’s settled then.Once you and Rocky finish the inside, we’ll announce the surprise, and hopefully my mama heart will be ready for him to move in here and out from under my roof.And you can finally take that leap of faith and start your family with Havoc and Zane.”
“This is going to be so much fun,” I say and feel giddy that I’ve found something I can dive into and be part of.
