Hopefully that wasn’t too obvious, but I’m more determined than ever to know exactly who Jax really is.
CHAPTER SIXTEEN
JAX
I’m amazed, truly just in awe of Kai. Watching him in his element had me wide eyed and soaking in every moment. He's a natural, fitting in and asking all the right questions. And when we went to the game? He was full of energy, and it waspalpable. Even if sports aren’t necessarily my thing, there was no way I couldn’t cheer right along with him. The crowds were loud, excitement from every single person that sat in the stand. It made for the best vibe, and now, we’re walking the streets afterwards. Better yet, I found a new kind of candy in one of the convenience stores, and I loaded up.
“Wow, that was…that was amazing, Kai.”
“I know! Wasn’t that so cool?”
There’s a festival type thing ahead, music playing in the streets with people sitting at tables in front of road-side restaurants and couples dancing.
I can’t handle my excitement; I get giddy walking side by side with Kai. He side-eyes me and laughs as I wiggle my shoulders at him.
It’s just instinctual to grab his hand, pulling him after me. That’s all it is. The smile spreading across my face is just becauseit’s such a good moment; it has nothing to do with him. And his smile is just because he feels bad for me—or maybe because it’s just a good moment for him too.
When we get to the group of others, my body starts moving with the beat. His does too, and, before I know it, we’re both swaying our hips. It’s like no one else exists but us in this moment, and that’s okay. We’re just two people.
We’re not boss and employee.
Not the jock and the nerd.
We could even be perceived assomethingby those who don’t know us, and I’m honestly not too bent out of shape by that.
His hands find my hips, and I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling our bodies closer, allowing our groins to rub as we continue dancing. It feels good—thisfeels good. What if we just acted like our lives back home didn't exist? We can be two completely different people for just right now and go back to our normal lives when we go home. Would that be so crazy?
My head falls back as a loud laugh leaves me. I’m enjoying this way too much. This is my idea of a perfect time. I don’t even want to think about anything else—instead living in the moment and leaving all the stress and worries behind me.
I just want this.
CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
KAI
Between late night drinks, good food, practices, talking with the locals, and even some beach time, the first week being in Rio has been incredible.
It’s almost like Jax feels the same way, with simple, sly touches and full-body leans when he’s laughing. There have even been little comments from others, about how we’re such a cute couple, and neither of us has bothered to correct them otherwise.
Is it weird? Is this something we should even be pursuing?
I’m not sure, but when in Rio, right?
It’s been a night of laughter, a week of running around, trying to get the most done in our short time here, and now? Well, now, I want nothing more than to crawl into bed with Jax and see what kind of passion we could make.
There’s still so much night left, and I’m not ready to go home. Though I’d really love to be tangled in the sheets with Jax, watching him live life with a smile on his face and big ‘ol belly laughs? Well, that takes precedence right now.
Getting Jax to see what means so much to me is special too, it’s like letting him in on a little secret. People know howpassionate I am about the sport, clearly with my entire job revolving around it at one point, but really letting him see the real me? Well, that’s not something that gets shown often.
It’s normally having to be overly professional or stick to some rigid pattern, but he’s forcing me to live in the moment and take on more than just a reporter role while we’re visiting. I get to see things that I never have before, enjoy the culture, people, and everything this beautiful city has to offer, all while this beautiful man is with me to see it too.
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
JAX
I feellike we’ve kept it pretty civil, but every time I see him, I turn into a feral animal ready to leap. Because, being this close to him, feeling this free and open, does things for me. And even now, sitting on the couch, I can’t help the bulge tenting the front of my shorts.
This whole fucking place smells like him, and it does nothing to help the desire that’s building inside, so I need to get out, at least for a little bit.
