When they were both naked, he touched her everywhere, fanning the flames of desire engulfing her even more. All she could do was lie back and watch his hands move methodically over her, from the center of her neck, all over her breasts, down to her abdomen and then right between her legs.

His fingers tenderly stroked her there, making every cell in her body erupt with need. Spikes of heat swirled around in her stomach, and she released sighs of delight and moans of pleasure when he began working his fingers inside of her. And when he lowered his head between her legs, she groaned as her body arched and she brought her hips off the bed to cage his face and that notorious mouth between her thighs.

Never had she been this desperate to be made love to by a man. And the way he lapped her up made her even more so. When she felt the first signs of a climax, she screamed his name. “Matt!”

“I’m here, baby, and don’t plan to leave you. Ever.”

His words would have given her pause if she hadn’t realized he had placed his body over hers. She drew in a deep, satisfied breath when she felt him enter her and begin moving in the most primitive instinct known to man. The desire to mate. And she was convinced no other man did it better.

He hammered her with whipcord speed, not letting up while she mercilessly moaned his name. His thrusts were hard, and she arched hungrily to meet every one. Her nails dug into his shoulders. His hand seemed to be adjusting her hips so her curves could fit perfectly to the hard, well-defined planes of his body.

On and on their bodies mated, each erotic bump and grind a testament to their need, their desire and their longing for each other as they sought pleasure in each other’s arms. What he was doing and the way he was doing it caused fire to ignite in her loins and contractions to lance her womb. She needed this. She needed him. She could and would admit that.

Suddenly, her body was bombarded by sensations of pleasure so sharp, erogenous spikes seemed to shoot all through her. Her climax built to the point where she had to let go.

She screamed Matt’s name, and then moments later, through glazed eyes, she watched him throw his head back to holler out hers. The sound of her name coming out of his mouth did something to her. Removing her hands from his shoulders, she ran a finger down the hard planes of his hairy chest and scripted her name there. Iris.

Not sure why she’d been driven to do that, she reasoned it was okay since nothing between them was permanent, and branding him hers was just for the moment and nothing more. He lowered his head and gazed at her, giving her an odd look while their bodies shuddered in the aftermath of their orgasms. Why had he stared at her like that? There was no way he knew what she’d written on his chest, was there?

She couldn’t think any further when he suddenly took her mouth in a searing and demanding kiss. All too soon, passion eradicated all her thoughts except the one about making love, again and again.

Matt glanced over at Iris, who sat beside him in the SoFi Stadium. Things were looking good for their favorite team, and a win would add to what he thought had been a perfect weekend. Iris had spent last night with him, and after waking up to her on top of him wanting to make love again, they had showered, and he’d given her another of his T-shirts to wear.

Together, they had prepared breakfast. After eating, he had taken her home to change for the game. He remembered what she’d told him about not allowing a man to get past her living room. Although he had been in her kitchen before, he wouldn’t take advantage of her house rule. He believed that one day, when she was ready, she would invite him beyond whatever perimeters she had set. She had agreed to stay at his place again tonight. Her overnight bag with a change of clothes and toiletries had been placed in his car’s trunk.

They’d been out of their seats, yelling, when their team scored another touchdown. Then, the other team scored shortly after. Now it was the last quarter with only a few minutes remaining. The opposing team had caught up and was only a couple of points behind.

It was a plus for him that Iris liked football, and thanks to her dad, she knew the game. Of course, there was no way he could consider her one of the guys when her entire being spelled sensuous female.

“This is one of those nail-biters,” she whispered to him.

He grinned. “For those who have nails,” he chuckled, holding his hands out in front of him.

She glanced over at him and smiled. “Those fingers might not have nails, but they don’t lack skill. I wouldn’t trade those hands for all the tea in China.”

No sooner had she made that comment than everyone was out of their seats. One of their team’s players was heading toward a touchdown with less than a minute on the clock. When a touchdown was called, he and Iris, like everybody around them, jumped up and down, cheering at the top of their lungs. The game had ended, and their team had won. And as if it was the most natural thing to do, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her.

Chapter Twenty-One

“Hmm, this is pretty interesting, Mom.”

“What is, sweetheart?” Iris asked, pausing from basting the turkey to look at Garlan, who sat at the breakfast bar with his laptop.

As scheduled, he had arrived in town Tuesday night, but instead of coming home, he had booked a rideshare to take him straight to the beach house. That was when he’d told her his plans had changed. Instead of staying in LA until Sunday, he would be flying to Atlanta on Friday. His best friend, Prince Ari, and his parents and siblings were joining their Atlanta Westmoreland family for Thanksgiving. Garlan wanted to spend time with Ari before returning to school.

She had arrived at the beach house that morning to find him jogging on the beach. The older he got, the more he looked like his father. Not only that, he walked like him and sounded like him. And then there was that Garlan Michaels smile that had captured her heart the first time she’d seen it.

“There’s an article about you and Mr. Caulder in theWagging Tongue.”

She figured he was talking about the article and photo that had appeared in the Sunday morning issue. “Yes, I know about that,” she said, deciding not to explain. As far as she was concerned, no explanation was needed. She was grown and didn’t have to answer to anyone. Not even her son. Besides, when did he start reading that tabloid? With nothing else to say, she went back to basting the turkey.

“The two of you looked good together at the game.”

Iris snatched her head up.Game? What picture was he looking at? Placing the baster down, she moved around the breakfast bar to glance over his shoulder and saw the article he’d been reading…as well as the photograph of the kiss she and Matt had shared when their team had won.

Since she’d been a participant in the kiss, she hadn’t realized just how passionate it had probably looked to others. Thanks to whoever took the picture, now she did. Matt’s arms were around her waist, and hers had been around his neck. It looked like the kiss was more than a celebratory kiss for their team’s win.
