Smiling, she wraps her legs around my waist, rubbing herself against me. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were sneaking my romance novels.”
I wrap my hand in her hair and notch myself between her legs. “Sunshine, those books never gave you a happy ending half as good as the one you’re about to get.”

HARPER
Luke Bennett—reckless, infuriating, impossible Luke Bennett—loves me.
Laughing, I flip us over so I’m on top. “Show me,” I taunt him.
He flashes that wicked grin and flips us over again. “My pleasure. Yours too.”

LUKE
Twenty minutes later, we’re dressed and heading to the breakfast. Harper’s wearing one of my shirts over her jeans, and the sight of her in my clothes does something primal to my brain. I take her hand, knowing she’s feeling nervous about our outed relationship.
The kitchen smells like coffee and bacon. Emma’s at the sink, and Jake’s leaning against the counter next to her with a mug in his hand. They both look up when we walk in.
“Morning,” Emma says brightly, her eyes dancing with amusement. “Sleep well?”
“Nope,” I say cheerily, grinning when Harper backhands my stomach.
Jake scans me, and then he offers me a hint of a smile.
I go to the counter and grab two mugs and pour us coffee. Harper comes over and doctors hers, and I memorize how she takes it. She notices me watching and lifts her brow.
“So. This.” Emma gestures between me and Harper. “Does Sheriff Garrett know?”
“God, no.” Harper shakes her head as she takes a seat at the table. “He’d lose his shit.”
“Because of Luke specifically?” Jake asks.
“Partly, but he’d have had a fit regardless of who I dated.” Harper makes a face. “He has opinions about who I should and shouldn’t be involved with.”
Jake escorts Emma to the table, holding out a chair for her. “So we’re all agreed?”
“About what?” Emma asks as she sits.
“That Luke somehow landed a woman completely out of his league.”
Harper snorts. Then she looks at me and winks.
And in that one perfect moment, I realize I have everything I ever wanted right here on Blackthorn Ranch.

HARPER
It’s just after two a.m. when I arrive at home. I have a shift in six hours, and I need at least a few hours’ sleep before I show up at the sheriff’s office.
Turns out Luke and I don’t sleep when we’re together.
That does not bother me one bit.
I spent most of the weekend at Blackthorn, in Luke’s bed and in his arms. Learning the shape of him, the taste of him, the way he says my name when he’s inside me. My body is deliciously sore, my mind is fuzzy with exhaustion and satisfaction. I catch a glance of myself in the rearview mirror, and I look like I spent the weekend doing exactly what I spent the weekend doing—having orgasm after glorious orgasm.
