Don Sanchez had been dumb enough to spout off about Sophie. And although I knew Aria would be pissed about it, I was actually really fucking pissed about him talking about his daughter like that. He deserved to be sucker punched like he had. Then Dom finally had enough of his derogatory nonsense about his wife, whom I knew he was full blown in love with by that point, and pummeled Don Sanchez. I let Dom have his moment, but we didn’t want the man dead. Well, not yet. If he continued to piss either of us off, I would take him out, without question.

But this time would be different. It had been awhile since I got my hands dirty. Literally. It’s not that I wouldn’t. It’s just if I did, I was making a statement.

And I would be making a fucking statement of Nico Cattaneo.

Chapter 13

Maximo’s POV

Three weeks later, I got the call. Nico had set up a time to meet with Dom. The location was out in a deserted industrial area. But he had a different plan in place apparently. He told Dom he needed to speak with him, with hopes of calling a truce with me. I called bullshit, but so did Dom. Dom set it up that the majority of his men, which now also included Don Sanchez’s men, would stay back with me, armed and ready. He would go in with a small handful of his own men, make it look a bit more casual. Nico was likely going to let The Fire Dragons MC take down Dom, then he could come after me without extra interference. Dom had on a bulletproof vest as well as did all of his men. We had scoped the place out earlier, and “Geronimo” had provided us very useful intel of where the Fire Dragons MC men would be hiding at. That way we knew where to come in without being noticed. Nico should have picked a better spot. He really was dumb as an ox, or he really just believed Dom was dumb enough to believe his plea for a truce.

Our men had arrived two hours before the meet-up time. We were ready and set in place when the Fire Dragons MC club members rolled up on the place, an hour before the meetup time. Dumbasses didn’t even consider the fact that some of the buildings would be easy areas for people to hide. My men and I made sure to keep as quiet as possible. I made sure I was at ground level so I could charge in as soon as I had the rightmoment. All I needed was for Nico to show his face and get close enough, then I would be intervening. No waiting around shit! Asshole was dying today.

Dom pulled in with his two SUVs full of men, dressed casually, though armed under loose T-shirts and relaxed fitted jeans. I was dressed for action too in a black snug-fitting T-shirt with black jeans and combat boots. I had one gun in my shoulder holster, the other in my hand, ready to go. I also had a secret weapon on me that I would be putting to good use.

About 10 minutes later, that prick rolled in with two of his own SUVs. But he had a couple less men than Dom, so at least Dom had the numbers. One thing I did give Nico credit for. He had risen from shit on the floor to almost making it to a Don. But it wouldn’t happen. Even if he somehow managed to take out Dom, I would have taken that personally and gone after the fucker anyway. First my wife then my friend? That wasn’t fucking happening. Nico was too arrogant for his own good. Or maybe he became too desperate after we killed his aunt.

I watched as Nico sauntered over to Dom, but kept a decent distance. Smart move. Nico did look like shit. I hadn’t seen him in quite some time. Aria had once mentioned that Lorenzo referred to him as a bulldog. Looking at him now, he did look worse for wear. He had a rugged look to him, more scars than even Carlo had, but I had heard Nico had literally fought his way up the chain. Even heard the fucker got high praise from his father’s own Don saying Nico had “morecoglionesthan most of our men.” That was saying something. But you put Dom next to Nico and of course the guy is going to look like shit on a stick. Dom was the pretty boy, which threw people off because the man was ruthless. He worked his way up from a soldier and was handpicked by his Don to fill his place. That was almost unheard of in our world. It was usually a son took over, or if the Don had a daughter, the son-in-law would take over.

I heard Nico start to taunt Dom, which made this my moment to move.

“You really are fucking stupid.”

Guns were suddenly drawn on both sides.

“Did you really think I wanted a truce with that cunt? Fuck, his bitch killed my aunt. They are both going to pay for it.”

At that point I saw Fire Dragons MC members begin to move in, so I waved a hand up to our men to move.

Dom laughed, making Nico stiffen. “We knew it was a fucking setup you dumbfuck.” Dom smirked at Nico as his own men moved in closer to block Dom.

The Fire Dragon MC’s men were still approaching in a semi-circle formation from their direction, but had seemed to slow their pace at what Dom said.

“That’s why I’ve got Maximo here as well as Carlo Garcia.”

The Fire Dragons MC men stopped in their places looking around just as I charged from my spot, gun up and pointed directly at Nico. He looked pissed.

The rest of our men converged out in a swarm, guns drawn and ready to fire.

“Motherfucker!”

Just as I was a few paces from Nico, I turned and could see the Fire Dragons MC president, Demon. And he looked agitated.

“What the fuck, Nico? You said you were meeting with Dom, not Maximo, you fuck!”

My gun still pointed at Nico, and without looking away from him, I responded to Demon. “This bitch tried to take outmy wife, atmy house, so this bitch ismine.” I paused, then continued. “This little bitch knew you had a problem with Dom, so he set this up so you would take Dom out of the picture and he could go after me. But I bet the little bitch boy here didn’t account for us knowing about his little plan thanks to Geronimo. And he didn’t account for me having an alliance with CarloGarcia.” I tilted my head as I looked at Nico. “Did you?” Then I smirked wickedly at him.

Nico was dumb enough to speak up. “I don’t fuckin’ see Carlo here you, stupid cunt.”

I continued to smirk at him, then pointed up behind me where he glanced up. I could see a flicker cross his eyes.

Demon grunted out, “Well fuck me.”

I knew Carlo was up on the roof of one of the buildings, surrounded by several of his men looking down, armed with guns.

“You’re on your own, fucker. We have nothing to deal with Maximo.”

Demon turned to leave, waving his men off.
