“No, they didn’t have me long enough to hurt me, and you know, I think they are a bit on the simple side. I mean who kidnaps someone then leaves them on their own without even closing the door?”

Stepping closer to the bed Cilla is laid on I ask, “Did they hurt you apart from hitting you on the head?”

“No, they dumped me in a room and walked away. I got away when they left the building and left the door to the room open. I walked out and then ran. I was lucky that I got a lift here.”

Scalpel gives me a nod. “The bump is okay, no broken skin. You will just have to take it easy, Cilla. No rushing around. All you need is time to allow the slight concussion to pass. You have not felt any sickness or anything, right?”

“No, I am okay. I have a hard head,” Cilla laughs, obviously making light of the whole thing.

“You can take Cilla now. She needs to rest, so get her tucked up in your room and watch her if she sleeps. But I am not overly worried about her. It is as I said a slight concussion, and I don’t foresee any problems.” Scalpel opens the door, and I take Cilla by surprise when I pick her up and carry her out.

“I can walk, Mason.”

I kiss her nose but keep walking. I am going to get her into bed and let her rest. She needs to chill the fuck out for a while, and that is exactly what she is going to do.

It is supper time, and I have brought Cilla down to eat as she was annoyed she was being held for ransom in her room. Well, that is how she saw it, and I have to admit my laughing at her comment didn’t help her mood.

“Pyro is here,” Cilla sighs as she informs me. She is giving a blank face, which is where I think she is seeing Pyro. “I’m not doing anything tonight, Pyro. Stop pestering.”

“What does he want?” I can’t help but ask.

Cilla looks at me tiredly, “He said to tell Tracker ZeBach has moved and the club needs to make a move before next Friday.”

“Why?”

“Well, it looks like ZeBach has a new base where he is going to gather his men,” Cilla says these things so calmly, and with such conviction you cannot do anything but believe what she is telling you.

“Okay, you need to tell Pres.”

“Tell Pres what?” Tracker appears from nowhere and takes a seat across from Cilla.

Now, we’ve all seen how fascinated Tracker is with all the dead people that keep appearing. I’m sure if he could sign up for seeing and hearing them the fucker would. “Cilla said Pyro is here.” I don’t get to say more before Tracker holds his hand up for me to be quiet.

Cilla sighs again, and I’m sure it is tiresome always having to give messages to people. “Pyro says that ZeBach is moving to new premises and is gathering his men. You’ll have to make your move before next Friday. That gives you a week to find him and do whatever it is you are going to do.”

Tracker reaches forward and takes Cilla’s hand between his own. I grit my teeth because I don’t like it. I don’t like him touching her, but it’s Tracker...he is not interested in her. I can see he is just trying to soothe her because she really doesn’t want to be doing this right now. Speaking calmly, Tracker asks, “Do you have any idea where this new location is?”

Cilla closes her eyes, and we wait because we know she’s doing whatever it is she does when she speaks to the dead people, ghosts, spooks, or whatever you want to call them.

“Do you know Riverview Estates?” Cilla asks, and I look at Tracker.

“We know Riverview Estates. Is that where he is going to be hiding?” Tracker asks intently.

“Pyro said the warehouse with the jars on top. I don’t know what that means.”

“I know what that means, Cilla. Thank you. When is ZeBach moving to this location?” Tracker pushes.

Cilla looks tired again, and when Bessy places a pot pie with a side of vegetables and brown gravy, she looks at it longingly. Cilla, however, looks at Tracker again. “Now. He’s getting his men to gather with him now. That’s where he will be by the end of the day.”

“Thank you, Cilla,” Tracker says, and any fool can tell he means it. He is grateful that she has this ability and is helping by using it.

After we have eaten our meal and everyone has spoken to Cilla, I quickly get us both to my room. “It’s getting to you isn’t it, Cilla?”

“What is?”

“The amount of contact the dead brothers are giving you?”

“It drains me. It is psychic energy, and it is like using, for example, a laptop without it being plugged into a power source. The power you hold drains and you need to eat and rest to restore that power. I’m just not used to threedead people...” which she says pointedly, “following me around in a rotation and constantly talking. The three of them always have something to say.”
