My face softened hearing her repeat that. "I ain't even mean that, Sia."
"Oh really?" Her brow rose and her hand went on her curved hip. "I don't know what the fuck you meant. I can only go off what you said."
"Let me apologize then."
"For what though? You can't take shit back."
There were people standing outside having conversations amongst themselves, so nobody was engaged in our conversation from what I can see.
"So what you gone leave your girl in there by herself?" I asked, while nodding my head toward the club.
She shrugged nonchalantly. "She with her nigga, she's good."
"She called an Uber or sum'? You gon' take an Uber this time of night?" I interrogated her. The sky was pitch black, with the stars twinkling in the sky casted by a crescent moon.
"I'll be okay. I don't need you looking out for me."
"Let me take you home then," I offered, knowing it wasn't up for debate.
Her eyes bucked open as if I had two heads. "I wouldn't dare let you take me home. I'm not falling for that bait."
"When yo Uber supposed to be here then?"
She unlocked her phone, went to the app and sucked her teeth in disappointment, my guess is that it wouldn't be here quicker than she liked. "They keep switching drivers. I knew I should've fucking drove, trying to be fancy and shit."
"You still don't want me to take you home?"
"I'd rather walk."
"You're so fuckin' stubborn."
I could see her mind running, trying to decipher what she should do. "I'll wait."
"Cool." I stuffed my hands in the pocket of my Armani slacks. "I'll wait with you then."
Hearing that made her click her tongue against her teeth and roll her eyes, but she didn't say anything. There wasn't anything she could say to get me to change my mind. I wasn't about to leave her deserted outside. As good as she looked tonight niggas would get bold and try anything.
There was a brick wall nearby because they were remodeling a restaurant next to Prohibition. It wasn't finished yet, but the brick was solid enough to lean on. Sia stood her stubborn ass on the sidewalk with her phone glued to her face, casted a glow from her phone screen. I couldn't see what she was looking at from where I was, but it couldn't have been that interesting at all.
"You look good today," I called out after her, slicing the silence between us.
Slightly, she glanced over her shoulder before releasing a scoff. "I look good every day, but thanks."
I chuckled just a tad bit as I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Cocky ass."
"You don't look half bad yourself. It's nice to see your third-leg covered up for a change."
Throwing my head back, I released a heartfelt laughter at her humor. "I didn't know you paid attention to me."
"Occasionally," she murmured.
"You got permission from your boyfriend to step out like that?" I asked, probing around in her business just a tad bit.
"I can do whatever the fuck I want," she responded, not hinting if she had a nigga or not though.
"Okay then." I put my hands up in mock surrender though she couldn't see me.
"Why couldn't this have been under better circumstances? Why you had to pop out at my nigga's album release party for me to see you? I been trying to holler at you."
