When Wyatt leaves, I pull Caydence in closer.

“How was class?” I ask her.

“It was fine. I have a lot of work to get done,” she says. “I also need to figure out this tuition thing. They keep telling me I don’t owe anything. It’s been so long since I’ve paid anything.” I chuckle now.

“You don’t owe anything.”

“Yeah, I do.”

“I fixed it for you. You don’t owe anything,” I tell her once more. She shifts on my lap and glances over at me.

“What did you do?”

“I made it all go away. You don’t need to pay anything.”

“I owe money, Devon.”

“No, you don’t. I took care of it,” I repeat my earlier response.

“What does that mean?”

“I cleared you of all debt, Caydence.”

“That isn’t how this works,” she snaps at me.

“Oh, it is. You’re mine. That means I take care of what’s mine. You’re lucky I’m letting you work.”

“Excuse me?”

“You wanted a job, I gave you one.”

“A job where I don’t even work!”

“Why are you so angry? Huh? What’s gotten into you today?” Caydence sighs and relaxes into my arms as I rub my hand up and down her arm.

“It’s that time of month,” she mumbles.

“I can make you feel better,” I whisper in her ear.

“I’m bleeding.”

“You think that bothers me? It doesn’t. Blood is just another form of lube, baby.” Caydence turns her head to look at me, and I smile.

“You really don’t care, do you?” I shake my head.

“Not in the slightest. I would fuck you covered in blood and enjoy every second of it,” I inform her. I see her cheeks heat, and I know she would love for me to do that.

“I just need a nap,” she tells me. I nod my head and lift her off my lap before I stand. I grab her hand in mine and lead her out of the cafeteria.

“Where are we going?”

“To my house.”

“I said I needed a nap,” she laughs. Fuck, I love that laugh.

“That’s what you’re going to do. You’re going to sleep.”

“At your house?”
