Fuck, is that what Stevie is to me— my Lilith?

I look her in the eyes so she knows I am not lying about what I am about to say.

“No, babe. We are not back together. I was stupid to hold onto some kind of hope, but seeing her and how she is now, that is not something or someone I need to be tangled up in. I left her to get away from that shit, and the club helped me find a new purpose with a family at my back. I know no matter what, if I need the Rugged Skulls, they will be there for me, like I will them.”

She gets this soft look in her eyes, her smile lighting up her face as she looks up to me.

“I am glad that you have the club, Logan. After me and Val drifted apart, I found a new family in the hotel I work in, so I understand what you mean. They may not be a motorcycle club, but we will do anything for each other.”

“Family comes in all forms, baby. Not just blood and bones.”

“Ain’t that the truth,” she agrees with a smile.

“Come on, what do you say you help me hand the rest of these out before Pres has my ass, then I take you out to dinner?”

“Like, a date?” she splutters out, and I laugh at her reaction.

Inching closer to her, my hand lands on her hip.

Glory yaps, like she is agreeing to the date, or convincing Stevie to come with me.

“Why not?”

She looks around anywhere but at me and I feel her becoming unsettled; that is not what I want. I flex my fingers on her hip, then she brings her gaze back to me.

"You were my ex-friend’s boyfriend for years, Logan. Wouldn’t that look strange to people, seeing us together?"

“I do not see why, babe. We have not been together for years, and from what I have heard, people were happy that I got away,” I inform her. Her lips part again and I fight everything that is in me to not lean forward and claim her mouth.

They look so soft and pillowy.

“I…” She gets cut off by a shadow to our side.

“Hey, handsome. Got something for me?” A woman stops in front of me, looking me over.

I feel Stevie tense, but a chuckle slips from me when Glory steps between me and the woman. She lets out a gruff, like she is telling her to back off. The woman frowns down at the fluff ball, and wrinkles her nose.

“Eww, call your dog off. It will get fleas on me.”

“My dog does not have fleas, unlike some bitches I know.” My gaze snaps to Stevie and she looks pissed.

Her eyes are narrowed, her lips thinned, looking seconds away from bitch-slapping this chick. Damn, I am here for that. After seeing her fight with Val, I know she can handle herself.

“Who are you calling a bitch?” the stranger snaps.

“You, since it was you who insulted my dog.” Stevie inches closer and I grin, loving her gumption to take this woman down.

The woman scoffs, folding her arms under her breasts, making them almost fall out of her top. Clearly, she takes this stance to make men give her what she wants. Well, not this man.

Turning a coy smile my way, she says, “How about your sister takes the dog home, then me and you go and grab a drink? I am sure we will have a better time than you having to babysit your little sister all day.” Adding a bite to her lip, thinking she looks sexy, I shake my head.

Moving closer to Stevie, I slide my hand around her waist. Pulling her flush against me, I make it known that she is not my sister. I like her this close to me, it has my dick perking up in my jeans, and the scent of her invades my senses.

The woman tracks my hand, a frown dipping between her eyes.

“Eww, why are you touching your sister like that?”

“I am not his sister,” Stevie informs her with a sharp tone. “You can leave; we have things to do. Glory.” She addresses her dog as she starts to walk away.
