Let him think he's going to survive this. It's going to make killing him that much better in the end.

Before I can turn and leave the room, there's an explosion. The sound ricochets through the casino, everything around me shaking.

Screams echo from below.

The casino plunges into darkness.

Hector has a flashlight out in a second, looking around the room. "You good, boss?"

I head for the door. "Yeah. Let's go. We need to find out what the fuck that was."

Hector nods and opens the door, smoke already choking the air.

We stay low, going down the stairs, which are somehow intact. Sirens scream in the distance, people are shrieking, some are sobbing.

The staff is already doing what they can, trying to get people up as fires spark on the far side of the casino. There's a gaping hole in the wall.

I suck in a sharp breath. "Hector, go help people get out. Look for anyone trapped and make note of them so we can be sure they get help first."

"Worried about a second bomb?"

I nod. "I'm going to look. If I don't come out of this, get Summer and take her back to her family. Don't let Robert get his hands on her."

If she can't be mine, she should be with them.

Hector disappears into the crowd, pushing people along, his voice ordering the staff around and getting everyone organized.

I move through the casino, heading closer to the hole in the wall. As I round a bank of slot machines, a gun finds the center of my head.

Aiden is standing in front of me.

"Where the fuck is Summer?" His finger is on the trigger, a wild look in his eyes.

My ears are ringing as sirens get louder. "Not here. Why the hell would she be here?"

He presses the gun harder to my head. "Where is she, then?"

I glare at him. "At my house. You fucker. You bombed me."

"She's not at your fucking house." Another gun meets the back of my head, Royce's voice carrying above the noise.

Aiden glares, moving the gun to the underside of my jaw, pushing my head back. "You're going to want to tell me where the fuck she is right now. I'm not going to keep playing games with you."

"She's at the house." I smirk at him, but inside the gears are going into overdrive.

They sound confident that she's not at the house, which means somewhere along the line, she slipped out. It'd be the perfect time to do it, too. She knew Hector and I would be gone for the day. I told her this morning over breakfast.

Aiden scowls. "She hasn't been answering her messages today, which means she's not at the fucking house."

Even though it's not the time, I can't help but laugh.

Zoe slipped her a phone. She had to. There's no other way Summer would be able to talk to Aiden if she didn't.

I should've seen it coming, but there was a foolish part of me that wanted to trust my family.

Thankfully, that part is dead now after dealing with Robert.

Aiden looks over my shoulder to Royce. "Go tell the others to start looking for her. I want her found and brought home before he has the chance to track her down again."
