CHAPTER EIGHT
Caleb drifts off to sleep against me, his naked body draped across mine. I don’t move. I can’t. I just lie there, my arms wrapped around him, the same way I held him when he was sick. Only this time, there’s no excuse for this madness.
None.
Eventually, my eyes shut and I doze off as the early morning sun pierces the window shades.
I dream of sunshine cutting through a rainy day, of puddles reflecting prisms of rainbows, of laughter ringing in my ears. It’s the first time I’ve dreamed of something so beautiful, something so hopeful.
Sadly, it’s broken by the sound of the door banging open.
I jolt awake, and so does Caleb, his neck craning behind him as he looks at Sem and Luke standing in the narrow entryway.
“Oh shit,” Sem says as Luke slaps a hand over his eyes.
“Could have gone my whole life without seeing this,” Luke adds.
They both start laughing, and Caleb glowers at them, making absolutely no attempt to cover his nakedness.
“Go away,” he mutters as he rests his body back against mine. He’s not ashamed of anything, it seems.
My cheeks are flaming, however. To have two people see something so raw, so utterly intimate. They turn slightly to give us a hint of privacy.
“Nah, we drove all the way here. And wedidtext you.”
“Ugh,” he grumbles, burying his face into my neck, his hands sliding through my hair.
“You’re both assholes to the nth degree. Why won’t you just go away?”
They blink, looking completely unmoved, and Caleb mutters, “Ugh, fine. Just give us thirty minutes. And you owe us both coffee and breakfast for this shit.”
“Fuck yeah!” They bob their heads and then rush through the apartment door, thundering down the stairs.
“Told you to change the locks, but you didn’t believe me. This is all your fault.” His breath is warm against my neck. The feel of him against me is a sinful, intoxicating bliss.
“Do you really think being locked out would stop them from showing up? They would most likely just pound on the door until we opened up,” I say, dragging my hand up his spine.
He bites down on my neck, rolling his hips. “Fine, you’re right, but I’m still annoyed.”
I am, too. I’d like to see what the morning would have held if we hadn’t been interrupted. But alas, here we are, and I have no idea how quickly Sem and Luke move. They could return at any moment.
“Let’s shower and get you dressed before they come back,” I suggest.
“Don’t wanna,” he moans and rolls his hips again.
Shameless.
I let out a small laugh and then bring my hand down on his ass with a loud clap. Caleb’s cheeks darken, his pupils dilating.
That didn’t do what I thought it would. It didn’t deter him in the slightest.
“You for reals?” he asks, his voice almost breathless.
I can’t help but do it again, watching as his eyes widen in surprise. He likes it. Oh fuck, he wants it.
“You’re only making it worse.”
He arches into me again, and I feel the strain of his cock against my own. “We can work with that.”
