“Fuck!I’ve got it,” I say with a satisfied grin.“Meeting tomorrow night with supplier.Getting one call to make it happen tonight.”

“Shit, we need to get back to the club,” Demon says.“We need Orion to intercept the call and Reno to be on standby to act like the supplier.”

“First, we need to give him a number to call,” I say, pointing out the biggest issue.“Do you have anything shiny?”I check my pockets, but don’t have anything on me.Demon does the same and finds an old-fashioned cigarette lighter. He hands it to me.“I didn’t think you smoked.”

“I don’t.It belonged to a good friend of mine. He’s dead, and I keep it with me to remind me of him.”

We move a little close, and I catch the sun with the metal lighter.I angle it so that the light beams back into the room where Logan is situated.

“What are you doing?”Demon asks.

“Morse code,” I say.“Logan’s a soldier. He’ll know the basics.I’m giving him my number to call. Then Orion can redirect as needed.”I pause, then repeat to make sure he’s got the message.Demon is watching through the binoculars.

“Fuck, yeah!He just gave me the ‘all good’ sign.”

I give a sigh of relief.“We need to get the hell out of here,” I whisper loudly as I hear footsteps coming our way.

Demon and I retreat the same way we came.We pick up our bikes and rush back to the club.

We hurry through the common area and straight into Hawk’s office. We tell Hawk and Guard what we know.Orion is with them and hurrying to set up a way to intercept the call and reroute it to Reno.

“Reno’s on his way to the club,” Guard announces.“We’re getting close to the end, brothers.”

“We need the next step to go as planned, or Logan is a dead man,” Hawk says.“This guy means something to Decker.I don’t want to have to tell him we’ve fucked up.”

“We all know what we have to do,” Guard says.

“We’re not leaving a man behind,” I state firmly. The others nod in agreement. We’re nearly at the end of this mess.Bronson’s been a thorn in our side from the start.I understand why Hawk’s so frustrated. The club had an understanding with Bronson, but while we’ve been busting our humps to create a thriving business and stability for the club, he’s been building his army to take over.

This doesn’t sit well with Hawk, and there will be consequences. The feds will get the list of all the major players Bronson is connected to, including the dirty cops in the precinct. What happens to Bronson is up to Hawk, and I don’t think he’ll be lucky enough to get a jail sentence.

Ma & Pa Shops

Tessa

Etain drops into the shop for lunch, bringing with her a picnic basket filled with goodies. The gourmet sandwiches are to die for!The turkey, cranberry, and Swiss cheese on a baguette is a dance party to my taste buds.Etain thought of everything, including dessert, which is a key lime tart made to perfection.

“I’m going to have to start exercising more if I keep eating like this,” I joke.Etain laughs too, nodding because her mouth is too full to speak.

When she swallows her bite, she says, “I can’t believe how many cute shops are in this area.”

“Haven’t you lived here for a while?”

“Actually, no.I found my ex cheating, packed up, and left.I ended up here.At the diner, actually. My jerk of an ex followed me, and I totally lost it on him.Hawk told me much later, after we were together for a while, that that was the day he knew I was his.”Her eyes go soft when she talks about Hawk.

“I’m so happy for the two of you.Hawk seems like a great guy,” I tell her, then take another bite of my heavenly tart.

“He’s intense, overprotective, and stubborn, but also sweet, loving, and loyal to anyone he calls a friend. He’s a complicated man who’s doing all he can to make this club successful. He wants the club businesses to thrive, so each man can take a piece of the profits so they can work hard but still enjoy life.”

“Motown has a lot of respect for Hawk and the others. He calls them his family.Until he met them, he was out there alone.I can’t imagine what he went through. My parents are amazing.A little overbearing at times, but I know that’s because they want to save me from making mistakes.Unfortunately, I made them anyway, and they were always there to stand by me when I needed them,” I say.“Do you know that he doesn’t have any pictures of himself as a kid?”

“That’s awful,” Etain replies with a frown.“There are lots of Motown with the guys from the army.Hawk has a bunch.I’m sure there are some photos from the club parties.”A brilliant idea comes to mind.Etain sees my face light up.“That’s the look of a woman on a mission.”

“I want to make a photo album of Motown with his family, the Redemption Riders.Do you think he’d like that?”

“I don’t see why not, but just remember, the club is very private.Photos stay within the club. They don’t get posted online or any of that stuff.Every guy in the club has a past, and all of them like to be low-key.When you give it to Motown, he’ll tell you that himself,” Etain cautions.
