I stood outside of the hospital, with my phone to my ear listening to the phone ring. On the last ring the nigga answered the phone. “Sup, congrats my nigga.” Meek answered into the phone.

“Preciate it. Shit you coulda stuck around to tell me that shit to my face.”

“Some shit with my mama popped off. I had to dip.”

“She straight?”

“Yeah, she fell and shit. Had to take her to the hospital. She is stable now. In her room sleep. I came back home once she fell asleep. A nigga tired as fuck.” Meek yawned into the phone.

“Awh, damn. Ms. Kay here? What room is she in? I’ll stop by and check on her real quick.” I was cool with Meek’s mama Ms. Kay.

She had always been cool as fuck, the total opposite of my mama. I know she raised Meek and his sister Dennise alone. I never got to meet Meek’s dad, but I knew his sister Dennise’s dad Duke, used to be married to Ms. Kay before he passed a few years back. Meek didn’t care for Duke; he always claimed he was the reason his own dad wasn’t around. Meek had a chip on his shoulder for sure but that was his business.

“Uuuhhh, nah she ain’t at Beauville Pointe, I took her out to Boowell County hospital.” Meek nervously stuttered making my antennas stand up.

Taking Ms. Kay all the well to Boowell County was dumb as fuck Not only was that an hour drive from her house. That hospital is trash as fuck. muthafuckas knew if you went to the hospital there was a good chance you wouldn’t make it out Meek loved his mama too much to take her to that fucking hospital.

“The fuck you take here there for?”

“She wanted to. You know she don’t fuck with Pointe after Duke died there. She hate that hospital.”

What Meek was saying made sense, but my instinct were telling me something was up with him.

“Aww, okay.” I replied coolly, I didn’t want him catching on to me being suspicious. “Well tell her I hope she get better soon and I ain’t tell you thank you for getting Fallon to the hospital.”

“It ain’t no big deal.” Meek replied with a cockiness to his tone I didn't care for.

“Yeah, so why say you was by my crib that late anyways?” I asked him in a serious tone.

“Maaannn, I was coming by to kick it with you.”

“Aww okay,” I skeptically replied because I didn’t believe him. Meek never popped up at my house without calling me first, but I wasn’t in the position to grill the nigga like I really wanted to. “What…”

“Aye, this my mama calling me. Let me hit you back.” Meek quickly cut me off then hung up.

I pulled my phone from my face.I was finna have watch this nigga. He was moving too weird for my liking.

Chapter 17

Mikael Wattson

A Week Later

“My nigga if you don’t admit you like Pretty Brown,” I snicker from behind Lo causing him to jump almost dropping his phone.

“I should shoot ya dumb ass. The fuck you doin’ sneaking up behind me,” Lo turned towards me scowling like I gave a fuck about his in-denial ass being mad.

“Nah don’t get mad cause I caught you daydreaming staring and shit,” I childishly picked with Lo.

“A nigga like me don’t sneak. If I wanna do something Imma do it. A muthafucka can’t catch me doing shit.”

“Blah, blah, blah tell that to a nigga that don’t know you. You standing in the middle of the shop staring at a picture of Solana on your phone like a fucking creep.”

“Fuck you bitch ass nigga,” Lo spat as he grilled me, but I knew he wasn’t serious. Lo didn’t like to be called out on his bullshit and when you did he played mad to get you to leave the situation alone.

But I wasn’t scared of the nigga, and I was always gone call his ass out. Lo was miserable with Fallon. He might have wanted to act like they were a big happy family, and they might have been able to fool the muthafuckas on the internet, but I knew the real. It was written all over Lo’s face. Whenever Fallon came around he instantly got annoyed and he never smiled with her. Their interactions seemed forced, hugs and kisses were awkward between the two. I swear I ain’t never seen a picture of the two of them together and they were smiling. I hated to see my brother living in misery like the shit was normal for so long. I hadn’t seen anyone make Lo light up the way Solana did. The nigga liked her and I was all for him leaving Fallon. What was the point of holding onto something that wasn’t ever going to be. The problem with Lo was he didn’t want to be like our dad so much he’d stay miserable with Fallon. Rather than go after his own happiness. I tried many times to tell Lo he would never be like our dad cause he would never leave his kids behind over some pussy.

The difference between Lo and me when it came to our dad, I didn’t give a fuck. Our dad was a bitch. The way he did our mama and us was unforgivable. Mama was a good ass woman to him, and she deserved the best from he and because he wasn’t readyto grow up and be the nigga mama needed he ran after the first pussy that came along. Our chose the most ratchet, nasty, ghetto bitch to get pregnant. Whitly Newman, she was older than Lo and me but still too young for that nigga to be fucking on. Let alone getting her pregnant two times was diabolical. The way I saw it though, our dad was getting his karma. Whitly made his life hell, she’d drop their kids off and disappear for days. Then pop up and raise hell if he tried to keep the kids. Whitly fucked up three of his cars by putting shit in his gas tank. Child support was tearing his ass up too. His old ass is working to this day to keep up with those payments. Daddy was miserable and if he hadn’t been a fuck nigga I would have offered to kill Whitly for him but fuck him.
