“What, nigga?”

“That I’m not capable of winning yet. Yeah, I can be a man and admit that you’re the bigger nigga right now. But we both know that those tables can and will always turn.”

“Nigga, it’s a game that you won’t ever win. I am and will always be the bigger nigga. Now, since we have history, I feel like it’s only right for me to tell you to back down and go about your day. But, since we both know that you won’t take heed to my warning and grace, I guess I should ask what color you want your coffin to be instead?”

“Only one of us will make it out of this shit at the end of the day. And we both know who that one will be.”

“Yeah, me, motherfucker. You think because you have the feds on your side that you’re safe? You could have the fucking Army behind you, my nigga, and you still wouldn’t stand a fucking chance.”

From the way his eye twitched, I realized I had hit a nerve with that fed’s comment. I knew his ass was working with them, but he had just confirmed that shit for me. All the respect I had for his ass went out of the window. I didn’t give a fuck about how much I wanted a niggas spot. I wasn’t getting in bed with the fucking feds. Once you were their bitch, you would always be their bitch, and that wasn’t a game I wanted to play.

“Who the fu—,” he started, but I stopped his ass. I had heard enough of his bullshit, and his voice was irritating the fuck out of me.

“Aye, nigga I ain’t come here to chop it up with you. Just know that your ass is living on borrowed time. Enjoy your bullshit ass lunch, broke ass nigga,” I said, bumping the table and watching the water spill on his lap.Bitch-ass nigga.

Being that the day was damn near over, I decided to work from home for the rest of the day instead of going into the office. I wasn’t in the right headframe to deal with anybody, and I didn’twant to accidentally snap on anybody because I was dealing with a lot of shit.

I still planned on meeting up with Kenedi for dinner, though. She always seemed to bring me peace, and I needed the grounding only she could give me right about now. As I pulled into my driveway, I pulled out my phone to see if she had picked out a place for us to go to dinner tonight.

ME:

What’s up? Did you find somewhere for dinner tonight?

KENEDI:

Yep, I’ll share the address with you.

KENEDI:

Shared location.

ME:

Seriously? This is where you want to go to dinner?

KENEDI:

Yep, that’s where I want to go. Are you going to meet me there?

ME:

Nah, I’ll pick you up around 7. So, make sure you leave the office in time.

KENEDI:

Okay, I’ll see you then.

ME:

Cool.

Grabbing my bag, I headed into the house to get some work done. I had a lot to do, but I honestly didn’t feel like doing muchof anything. So, if there wasn’t a fire that needed to be put out, I tabled it for later.

After a few hours, I realized it was time for me to shower, change, and go pick up Kenedi for our date. It was more like a damn playdate since she’d chosen to go to Dave & Buster’s instead of a nice restaurant like I thought she’d choose.
