That he is, but despite it being impossible because Miles is about one-and-a-half years older than me only, I still appreciate his attempt in making a little light of the situation.
“Why, you want me to call you Daddy?” Miles slaps his hand to the middle of my spine, causing me to gasp out loud in pain. “You fucki—”
“We don’t use those kinds of words in this family, son.”
This guy, I am telling you.
I pull away from our hug, scowling at my best friend. However, when I see the soft expression on his face, my scowl just fades away.
“Thank you for telling me,” he says, like dumping my trauma onto him was the best thing that could’ve happened to him. I know for a fact it wasn’t because to Miles, Brooke, Eden, and Emory are the best things to ever happen to him, but whatever.
“Wait, there’s more.” Now that I’m already spilling my entire life out to him, I might as well mention my most recent thing that happened. “I kissed Luan. Today. At the airport.”
“The soccer guy?”
“The soccer guy,” I confirm. “I spent the night in his bed, and all we did was cuddle. Can you believe that?”
Miles’s eyes widen drastically, already shaking his head before thenomakes it past his lips. “You’re meaning to tell me, you, Grey Davis, didnotkiss Luan last night when you were sleeping all cuddled up to him in his bed?”
“Yup.”
“Not even a little peck?”
“Nope.”
“No fucking either?”
“No.”
“You didn’t even… I don’t know, jerk off together or something?”
Can I take back telling him? I mean, this is what I expected would come out of him when I mention Luan and my night together. It’s how all of my friends would’ve reacted, how I know they reacted to each and every single somewhat relationship announcement of theirs as well. It’s howIreacted hearing about Aaron’s relationship, internally anyway.
The questions that shouldn’t actually be of interest but just are.
“I’m pretty sure Luan offered to fuck me like six times in two hours, but no.” Honestly, I’m surprised I turned down the offers as well.
Miles blinks at me, swallowing, then blinks again a couple of times before he manages to speak. “You shock me, Grey.”
I fall back on his couch, letting out a huff when my back hits the backrest. “Welcome to the club, love. I’m shocking myself.”
“So are you like crushing on him? Already in love? Ready to put a ring on his finger?”
Hypothetically speaking, if I took Miles out on his balcony, then stumbled and accidentally made him fall off said balcony, does that count as murder? Because I am considering it right about now.
“If you asked Luan that question, I’m sure he’d say we’re already married and ready to adopt a baby, or five.”
Miles bobs his head, humming in agreement. “Yeah, he strikes me as the kind of guy who already has his life planned out with you.”
Scarily, I don’t think Miles is that wrong.
But shit, speaking of Luan, I promised to text him when I land. So in record time, I pull my phone out of my pocket to shoot him said text, together with a much-needed apology.
However, before that, there’sonemore thing Miles should probably know of. “You know the brand Brooke and Eden’s clothes and toys are from? Most of them, anyway.”
Miles nods, eyeing me with suspicion now. “Li Co. or something. I still don’t know how you have that shit just lying around like sacks of potatoes. Their stuff is expensive as fuck.”
“Yeah, about that.” I scratch the back of my neck. “I get them for free because my father owns the company. And honestly, I wouldn’t even give them to you because it’s like free advertisement every time Brooke wears them outside and some part of me has always hoped that stupid company would go down in flames. But despite not being on good terms with my dad, the clothes and toys are pretty good quality wise. And I only ever give you the stuff that’s actuallygood, not the whole sexist shit my dad approves of sometimes.”
