His blue eyes flashed, only for a second, before he pushed past us.

Ford was on his heels in seconds, pushing him into my mom’s office.

“Hey!” Rook yelled, pushing Ford in the chest.

Connor continued to hold my hand as we closed the door.

“So is that true, is your uncle after us?” Ford asked accusingly.

I let Connor’s hand go and moved until I was standing in front of Rook. This was what they’d just done to Natty, and I didn’t like it.

“Rook is ours. He is us. We don’t take sides against the club.”

Ford scoffed. “His dad isn’t even in the club.”

“His mom is, and that’s all that matters,” I replied.

Connor glared over my shoulder, while Rook glared back. Ford didn’t move and my heart began pounding fast. They were best friends. I hated that this was dividing us.

“Our moms decided that all that mattered right now was each other.Us. They want to put together a good Christmas for all of us. Especially the younger kids. I think we should focus on helping with that.”

All three boys were quiet, but I saw that Rook’s fists were clenched tight.

“Come on, let’s go see if we can help find a tree, or something to liven this place up. Our parents are handling all the bad guy stuff.” Connor finally relented and opened the door.
