I knew if it was anyone, it would be her.
“Killian got a call this morning from Giles. He was yelling, telling us that we needed to pull everyone in,” Laura started, keeping her voice low. Callie tucked her arms in close, glancing over at the large opening, past where our kids were.
I thought of the urgent call from Lance, but pushed it aside as Laura continued.
“I was about to leave, but Killian ran in front of me, stopping me. I guess the threat was believed to already be here…it was already in play.”
Callie shifted on her feet; her dark brows pulled down. “Do we know who it is?”
Laura glanced at me, and I knew…deep down, I knew it somehow connected back to Silas.
“There are rumors that the men riding today, those coming for us, are wearing colors for a club that we thought had disbanded.”
Callie and Pen both swung their heads toward me, while Laura let that hang in the air.
“Who?”
Their stares remained on me, so I spoke of the fear that still kept me up at night on occasion.
“The Destroyers?”
Laura nodded, while Penelope shook her head. “That doesn’t make any sense…Fable is dead. Has been for years, who would even lead them?”
Laura’s gaze remained on me, accusingly, as if I knew something and wasn’t fessing up.
I suppose that were true with my knowledge regarding my husband’s affiliations.
Callie looked confused, so did Pen. Then Laura let out a low sigh before stepping closer.
“Did Silas ever speak of another brother?”
