“He did wh-what?” she stammered, taking a step back. “You did what?” she screamed at her ex.

“I didn’t mean to. I thought I was just blowing up an empty house. No one was home when we put the shit in the crawlspace.” He was blubbering as snot started to pour from his nose. “I didn’t want to hurt anybody. I swear!”

“What do you want to do, boss?” Reese asked.

I looked into Kinsley’s eyes. For some reason I didn’t want anything to do with this revenge anymore, and a part of me believed the sniveling idiot.

Fuck.

Kinsley put her hand on my shoulder as her eyes pleaded with me.

“Let him go,” I ordered, and Reese and Jett instantly released their grip. Taking a step toward Elijah, I glared at him. “Show me.”

He blinked at me. “What?”

“Show me you’re actually out of the Renegade Kings. I need to see the covered ink.”

Ripping his shirt up over his head, he tossed it on his bike. He turned slowly with his arms stretched out. All of his tattoos were blackened blobs.

“I wasn’t lying. There hasn’t been a day I haven’t thought about what happened,” he murmured, his head hanging. “I am so fucking sorry, man. I ran away from that life and never looked back.”

Watching him fall apart in front of me was enough. I was done. I needed to move on.

“Get the fuck out of my sight. I never want to see you around here again, and you better never contact my girl. You’re fucking done.”

He dragged his keys out and got on his bike right away. “I fucking swear, you’ll never see me again.”

We stood in the parking lot, making sure he actually rode away.

Pulling Kinsley into my arms, I looked down at her. “I’m sorry for this.”

She kissed my cheek. “If my wife had been brutally murdered, I probably would have done a lot worse.”

“Does that mean you’ll go out with me again?” I shot her a crooked smile.

“Let’s see…” She tapped a finger against her lips for a few seconds. “A handsome, single dad with a heart of gold who also happens to be badass biker wants to date me? I think I could handle that.”

Reese and Jett both made cooing noises behind us.

“Shut the fuck up. Don’t ruin the damn moment,” I barked at them.

Throwing their hands in the air, they each took a couple of steps back.

“I’m really glad I met you, Kinsley Rogers.” I picked her up in my arms, twirling her around in the gravel lot.

As she giggled, she beamed down at me. “That feeling is very much mutual.”

Chapter 12

Kinsley

“Fuck, Maccon,” I cried as his talented tongue sent my entire body into a frenzy.

“You like that, babe?” he mumbled as his fingertips dug into the outside of my thighs.

I couldn’t respond.

I could barely breathe.
