“How so?” Trace questioned while sipping his coffee.
“I go to my folks’ house every Monday morning for brunch. It’s our little tradition.”
“That’s sweet.”
“If by sweet you mean a bloodbath, then yes.” I bowed my head. “It’s getting to be a little too much for me to handle.”
“Why don’t I go with you tomorrow? That might shut them up for a little bit—bringing home the wealthy, well-dressed son of a member of the club.”
I cocked my head to the side, smiling at my new knight in shining armor. “You’d seriously do that?”
Trace wiped his mouth with his napkin before tossing it onto his emptied plate. “Of course I would. I mean, it’s a little soon to be meeting the parents, but seeing as how I already know one of them, what’s the harm in it?”
“You’re seriously too good to be true.”
“Right back at ya, hot stuff.”
