“I told him you wouldn’t agree and I tried to get Bex to go back to her room till you guys got back. He wasn’t alone and one of the brothers, Trigger… I think he punched me and told me to li…listen and then Razor pulled one of his blades”
“I am going to fucking kill him, Torch give me the keys to the truck.”
“Why do you think it was Bex that broke his nose?" Meg asks.
“I took the club girls to the room like they asked… but I… I went back… they had her cornered… he wasn’t alone… and then she got Razor close enough that she kneed him and then she ran… she ran away.”
My whole body is vibrating and I feel like my skin is on fire.
I did this.
I left her there, I let him get to her… I…
Torch breaks my thoughts, “Get in the truck, Clutch. You are in no state to drive. Prospect you are coming with us and you are going to tell me everyone who was involved and everything you saw.”
I move on autopilot following Torch to the truck and picturing what it will be like with my hands around the fuckers throat. Angel is on his bike, before I get to the truck. As I jump in, I see Four moving the women back into his house.
The rest of my brothers are getting on their bikes.
All I can think as the truck tires roll over gravel and we pull out onto the highway is that;I did this, I need to fix everything and find my wife.
CHAPTER 21
CLUTCH - ALL ROADS LEAD TO HER
The drive back to the compound goes by in a blur. On the drive, there was something Razor said one night in church that kept replaying in my head.
Over and over.
Too many coincidences around your wife.
Insinuating that all roads lead back to her. At the time, I wanted to break his jaw for saying it.
Now…
I can’t stop thinking about it. Because if I’m being honest with myself…
It’s true.
But not in the way he was insinuating. All roads were leading back to Bex on almost every issue the club was having. Like someone was drawing a bright red arrow pointing at her.
But the more I thought about every coincidence… they didn't make sense. Not for her.
Bex always laid low, never wanted attention. Never wanted to do anything too high profile…
I never questioned it.
But if what Angel insinuated about my wife’s past was true…
She would never go near someone like Preacher…
A man rumoured to be worse than the devil himself…
A man with a body count and connections no one sane would want to fuck with…
She wouldn’t work with him, she’d run the other way. Every damn time.
That’s the woman I married.
