Vanessa? No, she and the Khaos Ladies are safe on the compound.

Mrs. Boner? Fuck, did he kidnap Boner’s mom as collateral? Jesus fucking Christ, what the hell am I supposed to do?

“Diego?” My heart freezes at the sound of Mia’s voice, my stomach dropping and my veins boiling.

“Get your fucking hands off of my sister.”

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Spencer

Aguttural scream pierces through my thoughts and I jolt awake on high alert.

“I need to make a call.” There’s a faint tremble in Parker’s voice from just outside the bedroom, as though she’s trying to contain every emotion, and my heart leaps into my chest because Grinder isn’t here.

He hasn’t come home from the club’s job.

That scream of anger or terror or both was definitely Parker.

I can put two and two together.

Jumping up and out of bed, I pull the door all the way open to find Sledge frowning at his sister. Her eyes are wide and red-rimmed but full of more anger than I’ve ever seen. Like this, I swear she could be a contender for Psycho’s name. She’s holding her phone in front of her and it’s ringing.

“What’s going on?” Every word feels like an effort to get out because I really don’t want the answer.

Sledge gives me pity eyes, but his fists are clenched in what I can only assume is anger.

“We don’t know where Grinder and Kincaid are. Found the van outside the hospital with the windows smashed in.”

I’m sure he’s still talking but the ringing in my ears is blocking everything out. GrinderandKincaid.

One of my best friends, and the man I finally allowed myself to be with. If anything happens to him I…I’ve wasted so much time. And Kincaid, she’s going through so much already but…

Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath and try to center myself. Think logically, here. Sledge didn’t say they were dead. They’re just MIA for now. That’s all it is. Grinder and Kincaid are two of the most fearless people I’ve ever known.

Okay.

Another deep breath before I open my eyes.

“It’s okay, Spencer. We’ve got this.” Sledge holds my shoulder and squeezes. “Mac is over at the cottage with the ladies and Gryffin if you need her.”

“Robson, if you don’t get The Butcher on the phone to me in the next five minutes, I’m gonna rip your motherfucking entrails out through your nutsack and shove them up your arse.”

Both Sledge and I turn our heads in an almost comical fashion to face Parker, who is glaring at her phone screen as if the person on the other side is her worst enemy.

“Ugh, fine. Gimme a few minutes.” Whoever Robson is sighs and the phone goes silent.

“Er, Sis?” Sledge rubs the back of his neck and he’s frowning again.

“Yes, brother dear?” Looking up at him through her lashes, she grins, but it doesn’t come anywhere near to reaching her eyes.

“The club have this handled. We’ll find them and bring them home.” I don’t doubt him. I know what this club does for each other, but Parker hasn’t even been here for a month.

“That’s cool. What’s the plan?” She tilts her head and crosses her arms. That was too easy…she’s not that pliable and her brother clearly hasn’t figured it out yet.

“We’ve reached out to The Reapers, they work for M—”

“Marco Mancini. Yup. One of his sister’s husbands is my dad’s boss. The Butcher.” Her grin widens. “Looks like we’re on the same page.”
