We walk to a small alcove between two dunes. It blocks the wind but does little to help with the frigid temperature. I take a wool blanket out of the cart and arrange it on the sand.

“Sit,” I command. Evan drops down onto the blanket. He’s shivering, so the first thing I do is wrap a blanket around him. While Evan gets warm, I unpack a carafe of coffee, pouring two mugs and handing both to him. Then I sit next to Evan and snuggle up close, wrapping half the blanket around my body. After taking my mug of coffee, I weave my fingers with Evan’s. “Watch.” I motion toward the water.

In the distance, the first light of the sun begins to appear on the horizon. We sit in silence, sipping our hot coffee, hand in hand, and watch the day wake up. The sky turns from darkness to shade of pinks, oranges, and purples as the sun gets higher, peeking through clouds that are scattered across the sky. It’s a beautiful sight.

“Thank you,” Evan whispers, squeezing my hand.

“Before I met you, I would wake up early sometimes after a restless night and drive out to the beach to watch the sunrise. Next time, we’ll do this in Miami where it isn’t thirty degrees.”

“I don’t mind the cold. I miss it. It’s a lot more fun to snuggle up to my sexy boyfriend in freezing temperatures than when we’re sweating our balls off,” Evan tells me.

When the sun is almost directly across from us, I take Evan’s empty mug and set it on the ground with mine then cuddle closer to him, leaning in and kissing him deeply. Wrapping his arms around me, Evan pushes me down ontothe blanket, propping himself up to hover over me, finally breaking the kiss.

“I love you.” Pushing the beanie off, I run a hand through Evan’s hair. “I need you.”

“Here?” he asks with the raise of an eyebrow as a shiver runs through him.

Lust and need set every nerve on fire. I’m definitely not cold anymore and I doubt Evan is, but trying to get it up when it’s this cold might be impossible.

“Probably not going to happen,” I admit. Evan drops his forehead to mine.

“I’ve never had sex on the beach,” Evan confesses, running his hand along my jawline. “It sounds fun.” He glances down between us. “But you’re right. It’s not happening this morning. Guess we’ll have to watch the sunrise when we get back home.” Evan’s breath hitches and his eyes widen. “That’s the first time I’ve thought of Miami as my home, but I realize with you there that’s exactly what it’s become.”

My heart warms at his words. Evan feels like home to me, too. “It’s a date. I’ve never had sex on the beach, either.” I kiss him again and we enjoy a few more minutes, making out on the beach as the sun gets higher in the sky. It does nothing to heat the air and eventually the cold gets to be too much, so we return to the house. I have visions of shower sex with Evan, dancing in my head. By the time we get back everyone else is awake. We greet our parents and pour ourselves another mug of coffee before going upstairs.

Owen is helping Aiden out of our shared bathroom. I know my little brother well enough to know having to have help with something as simple as a shower is driving him crazy.

“Who’s next?” he asks, motioning to the bathroom when he sees us.

“Me!” Evan calls.

At the same time, I say, “Us.” Aiden offers us his best gagging sound and Evan turns twenty shades of red as he rushes into the bathroom, locking the door behind him.

“Asshole,” I snap, lightly punching him in the right shoulder being sure not to injure him. Owen laughs his ass off. “I’ll punch you, too,” I bark. Owen ignores me and helps Aiden to his bedroom.

I walk the other way down the hall to the room Evan and I are sharing. Now that I’m warm, thoughts of my wet, naked boyfriend in the shower have me fucking hard. Damn my brothers.

THIRTY-ONE

EVAN

Isaac’s game is at one today, which means we will be able to get to bed early tonight. I’m exhausted after our trip to New Jersey. It was great to see our families and spend time with everyone, but we didn’t get enough sleep and we both had to be at the stadium yesterday. I needed to catch up on some ordering and Isaac had a workout session and team meeting.

“Evan,” Isaac calls as he emerges from his bedroom, dressed to impress in a light-blue suit. I rake my eyes over him and lick my lips. Yes, I licked my lips. My boyfriend is fucking delicious. “Like what you see?” He steps into my space, causing my breath to hitch. He knows exactly what he’s doing to me.

The last week or so has been the best of our relationship. I didn’t realize how much we were both letting our past relationships and secrets affect what we have. Since everything came to light, we have both been more relaxed and happier.

I clear my throat. “Did you need something?”

“Oh, I need something alright,” he winks, then sobers and takes a few steps back. “Do you want to ride to the stadium together today?”

“What? Are you sure?”

“I’m positive.”

“Then, yes. I’d love that. Give me five minutes and I’ll be ready.

Rushing into the bedroom, I brush my teeth, pull on a pair of dark jeans, my Flores jersey, and a pair of sneakers. I put my phone and wallet in my pockets and meet Isaac back in the kitchen.
