His eyes widened in surprise. “You do?”
She dipped her chin. “I do. I mean, if you?—”
“Yes. It’s not even a question.” He released her hands, only to cup her cheeks instead. “I’ve felt the bond since the moment we first met. Of course, I want it.” His eyes searched hers. “I want you, Octavia.”
He tugged her to her feet, and his hands fell around her waist. He held her close, the snapping fire at their backs as he lowered his head.
“You’re mine,” he whispered, sounding like he could barely believe it.
“I’m yours, and you’re mine,” Octavia breathed just as he slanted his lips over hers.
The fire was their witness as they kissed beneath the stars, affirming their decision. That sense of rightness bloomed into a beautiful flower in Octavia’s soul. When she’d left Firefall, she never guessed this would be waiting for her in the wilds of the Rose Empire.
