We arrange ourselves in a circle, the tropical cityscape stretching out behind us with rows of hotels that just about tease the clouds. I take a deep breath before beginning.

"I need space sometimes to process everything. This relationship is moving so fast, and my feelings are constantly shifting." I meet each of their gazes in turn. "But I also need patience and understanding. I want this to work, but it won't be perfect overnight."

Josef nods, his expression open. "We can give you space when you need it. Just communicate with us."

"And we'll go at your pace," Florian adds gently. "No pressure."

I feel a weight lifting from my shoulders. "Thank you. I know I'm not always the best at expressing myself. But I'll try to be more vocal about what I need."

Dimitri reaches for my hand. "We're in this together, Aria. Whatever you need, we'll support you."

His touch is grounding. I give him a small smile. "I appreciate that. I feel like we're finally getting somewhere."

The four of us continue talking as the morning sun climbs higher in the sky. There's a new sense of possibility, of hope for the future. For the first time in days, I feel we're moving forward together.

The day passes in a blur of normalcy—cooking meals together, watching movies, just enjoying each other's company. There's an undercurrent of intimacy to even our most mundane interactions.

While I'm thoroughly enjoying the restaurant setup, having a day to just be is working wonders for my mind.

Florian's arm brushes mine as we chop vegetables side-by-side. Josef squeezes my shoulder affectionately as he passes me the popcorn. Dimitri's fingers comb through my hair gently while we lounge on the couch.

After the rawness of our confrontation, this easy togetherness feels soothing. The little touches and glances soothe the lingering hurt, filling the spaces between us with warmth.

As evening falls, I find myself lying in bed, reflecting on the day. Moonlight filters through the curtains, casting a soft glow across the room. I feel a lightness in my chest that wasn't there this morning.

Despite the lingering doubts and fears, I'm filled with a sense of possibility. With patience and understanding between us, we can weather the storms yet to come.

My eyes drift closed as I sink into the pillows. The future is still uncertain, but I don't feel so alone anymore. With their support, I can find my way forward.

Today was a step in the right direction. And though the path won't always be smooth, with them by my side, I feel stronger, a spark of determination igniting within. I'm ready to face the challenges ahead.

With the understanding we've built today, I know I don't have to navigate it all alone. Florian's sly humor and steadfast support. Josef's intensewisdom and creative spirit. Dimitri's nurturing care underneath his dominant, gruff exterior.

Together, we make each other stronger. And though it's complicated and messy at times, I wouldn't trade it for anything. What we have is real, raw, and true.

I turn away from the window, a small smile touching my lips. The future is filled with possibility, and I'm no longer afraid to explore it. Tomorrow awaits, bright with promise.

And with my partners by my side, I'm ready to greet it.

Chapter twenty-five

The air is thick with the scent of coffee and determination as I survey the hive of activity around me. The secure compound hums with purpose, our headquarters the beating heart of the machine we’re building to take Tane down.

Maps, blueprints and live video feeds line the walls. Each person here is a cog with a role to play. And we only get one shot to get this right.

I stand at the head of the table, all eyes on me. The key players are gathered—my men, the Snakes, and Dimitri and his Unknowns. The room crackles with tense focus. This is it.

"Alright everyone, listen up. We've got one shot at this. Let's make it count." My gaze sweeps over them, this band of brothers and sisters in arms. I know their strengths, their weaknesses. Now it's time to put the pieces in play.

"Rake, I want you running surveillance with Dimitri's team. Your humor keeps us going, but right now I need those eyes sharp."

Rake grins, snapping me a salute. "You got it boss."

I turn to Brick. "Brick, you and Angel are on intel. Get in Tane's head, find his soft spots."

Brick's smile is feral, eager. "We'll rip that bastard wide open." Angel cracks her knuckles at his side, hyena-quick and loyal.

My heart pounds with purpose. The stakes are sky-high, but we're ready. Each of us knows the plan. Understands the risk.
