“Fuck, your pussy is so much better than Nova’s,” Brock pants.

“I love you, Brock,” she responds.

“I love you too, Ruby, baby. Always,” Brock says, kissing her hard.

I end the recording and start my car so I can drive and clear my mind. I wanted proof, and now I have it. I just need to call Abel and get him to meet me. He is so fucking sweet; I know this will break his heart. She treats him like garbage. She has always talked to him like shit.

I tap on my phone as I am driving to call Abel. When I hear his voice, it makes me sad.

“Hey, Nova,” he says happily.

“Hey,” I respond with a sigh.

“What’s wrong?”

“Can you meet me?” I ask. “It’s really important.”

“Is it about Ruby?” he asks with a heavy sigh.

“Yeah... and Brock,” I say.

“Yeah... I was waiting on this call one day... Where do you want to meet?”

“Uhh... you know that diner on fifth street?” I ask.

“Yeah,” he says. “I’ll be there in ten.”

I pull into the parking spot beside Abel and lay my head on the steering wheel. I don’t want to get out just yet. Once I show it to him... it’s real. I’m not ready to lose a friend and a partner all at once, but I’ll make myself ready.

My car door opens and Abel unhooks my seat belt before taking my hand and pulling me out of the car. He just hugs me for a moment and his comfort is nice. He seems to understand what I’m about to tell him. “Thanks for meeting me,” I say. I don’t look at him because I don’t want to see the pain on his face.

“What’s going on?” he asks.

“Well… I have suspected Brock of cheating for a while now, but I haven’t been able to prove it. Him and Ruby both just tell me I’m crazy and I’m imagining things. I’m not crazy. I know what I’ve seen, but they just keep gaslighting me,” I ramble. “Anyway. I did something that kinda makes me crazy…”

“Did you kill him?” he asks with a chuckle.

“I wish… no, I put hidden cameras all over the house. Ruby got me some spa day bullshit that they think I’m at right now. Brock is supposedly at the office. Ruby should be doing wedding bullshit. None of that is true because I’m here and the cameras definitely caught something,” I explain. “I just… please believe me when I say I tried to catch them sooner. I did. I tried to catch them, but I couldn’t.”

“Hey, hey, I believe you. Relax,” he says. “Can I see the video?”

“Uh. Yeah…” I sniff back a few rogue tears as I pull the video up then hand him my phone. I watch as he watches the video, his expression is unreadable. Even when they are talking shit about him, he looks indifferent. When they start fucking, I think I’ll see something change, but he’s calm. He sets my phone on the roof of my car and sighs heavily. “I’m sorry.” My voice is so quiet that I don’t know if he can hear me.

“Why are you apologizing, Nova? You didn’t fuck my girlfriend,” he says, lifting my chin so that I’ll look at him.

“You two were together for years,” I say.

“Sweetie, I’ve known for a while that they have been fucking… I just had no way to prove it. I didn’t want to blow up your relationship without proof,” he says.

“Yeah,” I sigh. “I knew I wasn’t crazy.”

“So, what is your plan?” he asks.

“I’m going to show the video tomorrow instead of walking down the aisle. Then… I’ll be going on my honeymoon. I don’t care if I’ll be alone. Although, I’d rather not be alone. I sure as fuck don’t want to be with him,” I say.

“So…” he says but stops. The longer he stares at me, the more I understand. “I think I have an idea.”

“Go on,” I say with a smirk. He steps closer and places one hand on my waist, and the other on my car behind me. He leans in, his mouth inches from mine.
