“Trying to get me to strip for you, Princess?”

“Yeah, a little,” I grin

He smiles and steps out of his shoes and socks. He pulls his shirt off next, and I whistle at him. “You are definitely going to regret this when that medicine wears off,” he laughs and unbuttons his pants.

“I will never regret getting to see all that, trust me,” I laugh.

Dominic helps me get under the covers before crawling in beside me. He immediately pulls me into his arms, and I rest my head on his chest. “Good night, Luna,” he says, kissing my forehead.

“Good night, Dominic,” I reply with a mumble.

Two Weeks Later

The last two weeks have been crazy. I have spent every day talking or hanging out with Dominic. Nothing is progressing so I don’tknow what to think. I like him so much and he seems to feel the same way, but we are taking things slowly.

Harper’s lease was revoked after some water damage to her unit when a pipe broke. The fact that I’m sitting in the leasing office and they have their lawyer here tells me they are about to try to get rid of me. Harper was able to find a studio apartment luckily.

“Ms….”

“Just call me Luna,” I say.

“Okay, Luna. The damage to the unit next to yours is extensive and is affecting the wall and floor that separates the units. In order to fix it, we have to be in your unit. This means you cannot be in the unit. We unfortunately don’t have any available units so…”

“So, you want to void my lease,” I say. “When do you need me out?”

“Ideally, a week. We have three units that we need to do repairs on, and we’d like to start as soon as possible,” he says cautiously.

“Alright,” I sigh. “I’ll figure it out. Anything else?”

“We will be refunding this month's rent for the inconvenience,” he says.

“Okay. Thank you,” I say as I stand. “Good luck with your units, I guess.”

I walk out and try not to let this overwhelm me. There’s nothing I can do about it so there is no sense in freaking out. Surely, I can find something in the next week. I have a little savings and I can add that into this month's rent to go towards a new place. I guess the part I hate the most is the fact that I grew accustomed to being close to Dominic. It’s going to suck not being near him.

Dominic was on call last night, but I am meeting him for lunch today at a cute little sushi restaurant. Tonight, he is not on call, so we have plans for dinner as well. I walk the four blocks from the leasing office to the sushi restaurant. The moment he looks up from his phone and sees me, he frowns. He has this weird ability to sense when something is wrong without me saying a word. He always says it’s written all over my face, but I don’t actually know what he means by that.

“What’s wrong?” he asks when I sit across from him.

“I’ve been in this building less than a minute,” I say simply.

“The fact you didn’t make a smart ass comment tells me that it’s not good. What’s wrong?” he asks.

“I just had a meeting with the leasing manager,” I say with a sigh. “Harper’s unit caused damage to part of my unit so now they are canceling my lease and I have a week to leave. I suppose I could fight it but then I would have random men in my apartment and my bedroom for God knows how long,” I say. “I have savings and they’re giving me this month’s rent back, so I can afford to find something else. I just don’t know if I can find something in a week. I suppose I could go to my dad’s since I can work remotely, but I really don’t want to do that. Harper hardly has room for herself in that tiny ass apartment she found.”

“Why not just come stay with me?” he asks. “I have the room and I had planned on moving out when my house is done so I’m about to have even more room,” he says. “Whatever happens between us, you’ll still have a place to stay.”

“Are… are you sure?” I ask, frowning. “I don’t want you to feel obligated.”

“We are together every day anyway. May as well,” he shrugs. “Plus… I really like having you around.”

“I can pay you rent. I don’t take up much space so I won’t get in your way. I will keep on saving and be…”

“Princess. Relax,” he says with a smile. “I wouldn’t have offered it if I wasn’t sure. Also, you’re not paying me rent.”

“Dom,” I sigh.

“Dom nothing. We can have someone move your furniture into storage for you. I’ll help you get your personal items over tonight,” he says. “You and I will have dinner atourplace and watch TV until you pass out like you always do when we watch movies.”
