I nod because if I speak, it’ll end up being a threat to kill myself. Maybe that’s dramatic but I definitely just came on his hand and now he’s smiling at me. Although, he was smiling at me before also. “Luna.”

“Please, don’t,” I whisper, and he nods.

“We’ll leave your birth control alone for now,” he says, and I nod. I don’t look up at him because there’s no way I’m looking him in the eye ever again. In fact, I think I can just live with the pain. It’s almost like he can read my mind because the moment I think about hightailing it out of here without scheduling the surgery, he sighs. “Luna.”

“What?” I sigh.

“Schedule the surgery and let’s get this figured out for you, okay?”

“I’ll call up here later today and schedule it,” I lie.

“Well, we are neighbors, so I’ll just remind you until you do,” he says. “Please believe me when I tell you it’s normal. Okay?”

“Kay,” I say dismissively.

“Alright. I’ll see you soon, Luna,” he says. I nod and he leaves the room.

I get up and I get dressed as fast as I can. Once I’m dressed, I grab my phone and rush out of the room. I make eye contact with him again when I get to the front desk but quickly look away. It should be fucking illegal to be that goddamn good-looking.

“Okay, so we are scheduling you for a pre-op appointment?” The woman at the counter asks. I stare at Dominic for a second before shaking my head.

“No,” I say. “Is that all?”

“Uh… yeah,” she says. “I’ll put a note in your account in case you change your mind. Is that okay?”

“Yeah,” I nod.

“You’re good to go then,” she says. I turn and flee from the building. Once I am back in my car, I press the button to call someone as I put my window down to let in some air and lay my head on the steering wheel.

“Call Harper Bennett,” I say to my car.

“Calling Harper Bennett,” it replies in a robotic voice.

“Hey,” Harper answers.

“I just came on my hot doctor's hand,” I say.

“Oh shit. What did he do?”

“Nothing. He kept doing what he was doing and smiled at me,” I say. “He wants me to have some procedure done to check forendometriosis, but I think that I would rather perform the surgery myself, then to ever look him in the face again.”

“What? You didn’t schedule it?” she asks.

“No. I ran away like a coward while he watched,” I say.

“Luna Ann Brooks, are you fucking kidding me? You are in so much pain all of the time and you’ve dealt with it since you were preteen. I have personally taken care of you for days on end when you couldn’t get out of bed because you were in so much pain. Schedule the surgery. I don’t care if you shit in your hand and threw it at him like a monkey. Schedule the fucking surgery,” she says sternly.

“She’s not wrong,” I hear Dominic say from beside the car. I gasp and nearly jump out of my skin. When I look over, he is smiling softly at me as he sets something in the passenger seat of the car beside me.

“Oh! Is that the hot,” she starts to say, but I cut her off.

“Shut the fuck up, Harper. You’re on Bluetooth,” I scold her “what do you want?”

“You’re parked next to me, and your friend talks loudly when she scolds you,” he says.

“Schedule the fucking surgery, brat. Stop being stubborn,” Harper pipes in.

“I’m going to hang up on you if you don’t shut up,” I warn, and she giggles.
