“Cool, then promise me something.”

“What is it?”

“That if my world ever turns dark again, that you’d never try to physically touch me. I’d never forgive myself if I hurt you, my sister, or Taylor. Just let it rock until I’m out of it.”

She nodded. “Okay.”

“Promise?”

“I promise. But as long as I’m here, you’ll never have to worry about being in the dark, so that’s one promise I know I can keep.”

I smirked and kissed her lips. My phone buzzed with my sister’s name on the screen, and I answered on speaker.

“What up, Sis?”

“Hey, Brother. We’re having game night tonight, and you can bring your new girlfriend by since she doesn’t want to be friends with me anymore.”

Autumn laughed. “Kenzi, please. How did you come to that conclusion, ma’am?”

“Since you can’t answer the phone when I call.”

“I was on my new bike, sis. I’m sorry.”

“Yeah, I heard my brother got you a lil bike. Trying to show out on me.” Kenzi laughed.

“Then get your ass a bike, and we can be Rebel Wifeys!”

I laughed out loud at that.

“No thanks. I like to be a passenger or backseat princess. I’ll leave the riding to the brave girlies.” They laughed.

“We’ll be there, Sis,” I told her.

“Okay, hurry so we can bust y’all heads in these games.”

“A’ight, peace.” I hung up and tapped Autumn’s bottom to stand. “I hope you’re good at playing games. Ruger and Kenzi are competitive as hell, so you gotta know how to trash talk, not renege, and crack jokes.”

“Oh, baby, you ain’t gotta tell me. I love a good competition!”

I laughed. “A’ight, let’s roll. And don’t try to show out like you tried to do earlier, or you're going on punishment.”

“I love a good punishment.” She winked.

“Don’t play wit—Ros!” I called after her while she laughed and hurried off.

Another Week Later . . .

Spending all my time with Ghana was amazing. When I first met him, I was skeptical because he was my patient with a mental condition that I knew wasn’t healthy, but I still felt this deep connection with him.

During my evaluation of him, I wanted to say that there was nothing really wrong with him. I believed the trauma from his past made him lash out. I wouldn’t dispute that when he got angry, it wasn’t bad. He was indeed bipolar, but when he was calm, it was different, like I wasn’t talking to the guarded, angry man he presented to the world.

Now, I was falling in love with him increasingly, and I couldn’t turn off my feelings for him, even when I thought we were moving too fast.

Today, we were going to the clubhouse since he had a meeting with the MCR about another fundraiser and business venture. He had been at my house for a whole week, and I couldn’t say that it didn’t feel nice to have him in my home, in my bed.

He had been fucking me crazy every day, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I were pregnant already.

While Ghana was in the shower, I got Taylor ready to go with her dad. I had been putting off the meeting with him and Ghana, but I knew today was the day they would finally come face-to-face. While I wasn’t worried about Chris or his feelings about me having someone now, I was worried about Ghana and what he’d do if Chris said the wrong thing. I prayed he kept his cool because Chris wasn’t a threat.
