“Fuck, baby.I’ll never get tired of looking at you. You’re so damn pretty.I love it when you wear a skirt. It will make it easier to get to your cunt.”

Her mouth dropped open and then closed as a blush masked her face.“Thank you.”

He smiled when he heard Trent walking back.“We’ll talk later.Be careful, and call me if you need anything.I already put my phone number in your phone.”

Emma nodded.“I will.”

“Good.”

He glanced back one more time.He got the feeling she was holding something back, and he promised himself he’d find out the truth before long.

Chapter Twelve

Emma waved as the twodrove off before closing and locking the door. She exhaled and leaned against the cold wood.

She knew she didn’t have much time, but the thought of talking to the cop she’d dealt with made her stomach cramp. It’s not that he didn’t care. It’s just that they couldn’t do anything until she found out who it was or got attacked.

Hell, she might as well get it over with. She grabbed her purse and walked out the door. She looked around because she always felt like the threat was close, but she’d never seen anyone.

At the police department, she sat in the car and took a moment to steady her heartbeat. If she went in anxious or shaking, she knew the officers wouldn’t deal with it well.God forbid she started crying.

Emma felt the sun warm her back as she walked into the building. But as soon as the door closed behind her, she was in a world of cold stone and drab colors. She couldn’t understand how people could work there every day.

“May I help you?”

“Yes.I’m Emma Fletcher. Can you see if Officer Marcel has time for me?”

“Sure.Have a seat, and I’ll call.”

Instead of sitting, she stared at the WANTED posters on a huge corkboard and was shocked by how many there were. Were there really this many people in her town who broke the law?

“Ms.Fletcher.He said to go on up.He’ll meet you by the elevator.”

“Okay.Thank you.”

Emma stepped on the elevator and was relieved when no one else got on with her. When the doors opened, the officer was standing there.
