Emma’s mouth dropped open.“Trent.How can you not be upset about this?”
Trent laughed.“Because I figured her out pretty quickly, but only kept her around for the sex.”
Both women gasped.
“She’s pretty good at giving head, too, but her personality sucks.I can’t stand to be around her unless we’re fucking.”
“You bastard!”Marley screamed before she stormed out.
“Well, hell, there goes my entertainment for later,” Trent yelled after her.
She stood with her hands over her ears.“Ew, that is not something I want to have in my head.”
Trent chuckled.“Come on.I’m hungry.Let’s make the steaks now,” he said, pulling food out of the sack.
When she caught sight of the cheesecake, she almost groaned. She hadn’t had cheesecake in months because it was only her at the apartment, and she didn’t want to eat the whole thing herself.
Trent laughed at her.“I knew you’d want some.”
She ignored the fact that her brother was studying them. She’d have her little talk with him later about his part in the lie.
Chapter Six
Damon sat at the tablewith the only family he had left.Technically, they were just friends, but he’d always felt like he belonged.Trent had always been his best friend, and his folks were more like parents to him than his own.
He just realized they would be their true family by law when, and not if, he and Emma married. There was no way he was letting her slip through his fingers.
He watched the two siblings. They had always been close, and he loved seeing they still were.
“Why did you move out?”he asked suddenly.
Her fork dropped.“Oh, well, I guess I wanted to be independent.”
He saw the disbelief on Trent’s face and knew it mirrored his own.
The Dom in him tightened.“You’re a horrible liar, baby.”
