Chapter Nine
As the shadows completelyhid the area Deke and his men moved in closer to the warehouse. They got so close that they could listen to the conversation coming from inside.
“We need to get the hell out of this town,” Boxer said.“If what she said is true then we got a lineup of men that won’t take her kidnapping quietly.Holy shit, we’re facing not only the Sin’s Bastards but old members of the Sinners and Bones Tory? He’s not someone you want to be on the bad side of.”
Banger grumbled, “Well, I ain’t leaving until she tells us what we want to know.If she’s right, Robbie would have had a secret place. He never would have taken stolen goods home for his mommy to take away from him.He must have had his own place, somewhere in Boston.”
“Yeah, but then you run right into Leon Vincinti’s home turf,” Finn assured them all.“No one wants to go up against him or Calderone. He is coming into his own right about now and if Cassie doesn’t give us what we need to know then you are going after Peaches and that is just fucking suicidal.”
Banger got up and grabbed the front of his shirt, then he lifted him up clean off his feet.“What the fucking hell did you just say?”He snarled.
Finn just shook his head.“I’m just saying what everyone else is thinking.Look brother...We’ve already made one mistake coming here and snatching this woman. You were only supposed to talk to her.”
Chewy nodded at him.“Then Rodney takes her? This is not our town and going to war here would be like suicide. We better just pack up and go before we can’t ever make it back home.”
Banger let go of Finn’s shirt.“This is about more than you all know. It’s important. My grandfather came here when he was a kid with his parents. They had a small fortune in gold to live on.They didn’t want to let too many people know they had the gold back then so they lived in poverty for a number of years. They didn’t spend a nickel of the gold.My grandfather inherited it from his parents after they died.He added to it and he never said a word to his own family about it.Then after he died, my father inherited it.He too never said a word about it and he also added what he could. When my brothers and I got the family inheritance we added to it as well.No one in four generations ever spent a dime of that gold. Then Robbie found out about it and he wanted it.But we weren’t giving it up, not to him, not to anyone. Then the little bastard went after my brothers. He killed the first one when Richy would tell him shit about the gold. The little monster lost his temper and Robbie just went crazy on him.He stabbed him so many times and watched as Richy bled out.A few weeks after that he caught Deven in an alley. With Deven he took his time but ended up with the same results. He cut my brother so many times there was no way he’d make it.He just left him there to die.I never knew who had killed my family back then.”
Boxer stared at him.“You never told us about this.I thought it was some like money but what you’re saying it was a fortune?”
Banger nodded.“These days it would be worth millions “Somehow, he found the gold.I think Deven gave it up under torture. Then Robbie stole it away.He turned on me but not with his knives, no.He set me up to go to prison for something he did his own goddamn self.He set me up so well that everyone thought I actually did the deed.He sat in that damn court room every day.I thought he was there for support, I never knew he killed my brothers. Not until I was already inside. The day I was convicted Robbie laughed at me.As I was being led out in handcuffs he whispered he would enjoy spending all that gold.”Banger snarled.“I knew that one day I would get out of prison and that would be the day I killed that little motherfucker. That gold was never his to begin with.He never should have gotten his stinky little hands on it but he did.I don’t think he would have taken it home and let his mother steal it away. But I need to know where else he would have taken it.This woman in the other room knows something and I need her to tell me what she knows.”Shaking his head he admitted, “You guys just never knew what he took but now that you know, you can see what’s important here.”
They all stared at him.None of them looked happy about any of this...gold or not.
Banger moved away from the group and said, “That haul would have been heavy to move, heavy to store and someone would have known if he ever tried to sell it.No one has yet so I have to think it’s all there. That gold never belonged to Robbie Pierce and now it’s time I got it back.”
Boxer nodded.“Yeah, I can see that but I’m thinking we did this wrong.Robbie took her and he has hurt her.We need to make sure she gets home safe.Don’t forget that little fucker Robbie stole from the club too.Maybe it was only money but it was a lot of money. That money would have helped us grow bigger and live better.Granted, we all worked hard over the years but we never found Robbie or the money he stole from us.It would have been better to have Robbie here to answer our questions but he’s long dead.If this woman knows anything about him she could help us find out some answers. But do not hurt her, you understand?I say, "Let's finish this and go home.”
Meanwhile in the other part of the warehouse...
Robbie glared at Cassie.
She knew this guy was bad all the way through. He had his own agenda. He also knew Robbie back in the day, so that probably meant he was a bad apple and these other men here didn’t see it.
She should know all about that though. She’d seen enough monsters in her life to recognize one when she saw him.
Robbie came closer and then looked around to be sure they were alone. He now took out a huge knife.
She went still. The fuck.He was going to kill her.It was not a question. He planned to for sure.
He reached around and cut the zipties, releasing her.“Get up and get out.”He sneered at her.
She slowly gazed up at him.
“Well, little bitch,” he snapped.“Get up.”
Cassie knew this was all kinds of wrong. This guy was not setting her free out of the goodness of his heart. If he had one.He had other plans.“So when I do, you gonna knife me in the back?”she asked.
Rodney scoffed.“Nah, I made a mistake. So maybe I can get gone soon and not get killed.”
“Yes and make sure I never tell them where that gold is, right?”
He looked stunned.“So you do know about the gold!”
“And apparently, you do too.”She smirked.
He furrowed his brows at her.“What if you attacked me?”he asked as he raised the knife and made a bloody slice into his upper arm.“Then you landed on the knife when you tried to get away?”He gave her a cold grin.
Suddenly, Cassie was up and kneed him in the balls.
He screeched and then raised the knife to stab at her.The next thing he knew, Cassie kicked it out of his hand.
“And what if I did this?”She then lunged up into a roundhouse kick and her boot hit him in the jaw.
Staggering back, he landed on his back as the breath left his body. His lungs expelled all the air he had in them.
Instantly, Cassie was there on top of his chest, the knife in her hand pressing to his throat. Her eyes glittered at him as she finished her sentence, “...Then I cut you some more.”
Rodney finally looked afraid as he stared up at this wild almost feral woman.“The fuck?”he whispered in breathless shock.
