I kissed his forehead and let him go. “Come on. Let’s go to bed.”

Beau slid in behind me, snaked his arms around my torso and pulled me into his chest as I tried to breathe normally.

“That was incredible, Lea,” he whispered. “You’re incredible.”

My face heated at the sincere praise. I was so glad he couldn’t see my face.

“Incredibly good at sex, yes,” I said. I was also incredibly good at spoiling the mood, but I couldn’t help it. That fear had come back tenfold and I was starting to panic. I shouldn’t be letting Beau hold me, shouldn’t be sleeping in the same bed as someone I’d just had sex with.

I shouldn’t have had sex with him in the first fucking place.

Goddammit, this was a mess.

Beau was quiet for so long I thought he’d fallen asleep.

But then he kissed the nape of my neck and said quietly, “You matter more than you think you do.”

Having my own words given back to me was crushing.

I had no clue what to say to that, so I didn’t say anything. I just slipped my fingers between his and closed my eyes.

It was fine. Everything was fine. This wasn’t a big deal. Just two people having fun.

It didn’t mean anything that Beau was the first man I’d kissed in ten years.

No, it was no big deal at all.

“Rise and shine, bitches!”

“Unngh.” I peeled my eyes open to see a demon standing at the foot of my bed.

Judy reached for the covers, and I came awake fast.“Judy, don’t you dare!” I clutched at the blanket, glancing back at Beau, who was rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

With a vicious glare aimed at Judy, who was laughing and holding her hands up in a gesture of innocence, I said, “What. Thefuck. Are you doing in myroom?”

“Well I tried knocking, but nobody answered, and Lea, darling, I cannot—for thelifeof me—figure out your coffee machine. And you know how I get without my coffee. Youknowhow Iget.”

I fell back against the pillows. “Yeah, you get like this. Get the fuck out, Judy.”

“But—”

“GET OUT! I’ll be out there in five minutes!”

FuckingChrist, this was why I’d moved out here. But apparently even that wasn’t enough to escape my crazy family that didn’t understand boundaries.

“What time is it?” Beau’s sleepy, husky voice drew my gaze down to him, and all I wanted to do was push myself back into his arms and stay in bed all day.

Yeah, that sounded like a good plan, actually. Monroe would be okay for one day?—

“Lea?”

Oh, yeah. The time. I grabbed my phone and immediately saw two missed calls from Shea.

Oh. Fuck.
