Not again.

He screamed…

***

Jamue

Thirty minutes later, they drifted to a stop in the health centre’s parking dome.

“I’ll be right back,” Jamue told Holi and headed to the doubled doors. The omega barely looked at him. Jamue shook his head, and quickly made his way to Sirhe’s office. The door to the office was open, so he walked inside. But his brother wasn't there.

Jamue frowned.

His brother never left the door open. He turned to the examination room, thinking he was in there.

“Sirhe?” Jamue walked to the connecting door and pushed it open.

It was empty.

Where was he?

“Are you looking for your brother?” his assistant asked from the door.

"Yes. Where is he?"

Please be busy, Jamue silently begged. He knew he should go back to the party and get his initial meeting with the alpha over and done with, but...

"He’s in the centre. We had an emergency.”

Yes! Relief washed over him. He knew he was stalling ...but he wasn’t ready to face his fate yet.

Tomorrow, he'd give himself to Master Rosh.

“I can take a message if you want.”

“No," Jamue said too loud. He smiled sheepishly. "I’ll wait for him. I don't mind.”

“He’s in the VIP section.” The nurse offered.

Jamue thanked him and turned to the examination room, smoothing his hand over the strip. The itching had become unbearable. Since he wasn’t meeting Master Rosh tonight, he could remove it.

Besides, his brother’s staff knew what he looked like. Some of them helped him formulate the strips and solution.

Jamue rummaged through his medical supplies and found the solution to remove the strip. He applied the solution on his face and pulled the strip off. He sighed as the cool air blew the itching sensation away.

He wiped his face and cleaned up.

Done, he made his way to the VIP section of the health centre.

The hallways were strangely empty and eerily silent tonight.

What was the emergency? He hadn’t asked because he was so happy to stay. Now, he wished he had.

Jamue narrowed his eyes, looking up and down the hallway. He continued down the hallway, then suddenly stopped and stared up at the lights. They blinked rapidly and then went off completely, plunging him into darkness.

What’s going on?

A red light came on, accompanied by a warning siren.
