“Sorry,” Hym said, taking a deep breath. He closed his eyes and remained still until he felt his wolf settle. “Do you think he’s really looking for an alpha?”

“Yes.”

“You found a way to keep Ludiin. Wouldn’t his family do the same? He’s clearly from a rich family.”

“I'm part of the council. We made the damn rule. I have powers they don’t.”

Dammit.

Hym stormed out of the office.

“Fuck. Hym, where are you going?” Tarymn called after him. He didn’t stop to answer him as he rushed to his hover pod.

Chapter 11

Jamue

Mac was waiting for him when he returned.

“How did it go?” he asked.

Jamue stared at his excited smile and knew he couldn’t disappoint him.

“It went well. We’ll see what happens,” Jamue lied.

If it were another alpha, he would have gone through with the interview and raised the final point on the job listing on the agency site.

- Physical intimacy – will be negotiated between the alpha and omega.

Of course, he would have opted for no physical relationship.

But not with him, Jamue already knew what he wanted. He’d told him what he wanted so blatantly – he still shivered whenever he thought of his words. He knew there was no negotiating with him. His eyes had said it all – he wanted him.

He couldn’t even hide it. There was so much heat in his eyes, Jamue had tried his best not to react.

He still felt tingly and anxious after being in the same room as him for less than five minutes. Jamue shoved the feeling away and walked to his desk.

He immersed himself in work, editing his design. He'd think about applying for another job tomorrow. Right then, he wanted to focus on something that made him happy.

He had a few of those lately, he thought sadly.

Time flew, and soon it was time to go home.

Not yet, Jamue thought, feeling too raw to face his father. He waved Nava and Mac off and informed the driver he would connect with him later. Jamue locked up and made his way upstairs. He sat on the couch, covered his eyes with his arm, and sighed.

Way to go, Jamue, he thought with a shake of his head. He closed his eyes.

A while later, he heard footsteps. Someone was walking up the stairs.

Did Mac forget something?

Jamue sat up and turned to the stairs.

Sirhe? What was he doing here?

His brother climbed up the stairs carrying a takeout box.

He hadn’t seen him since he tricked him.
