“I’ll take care of it. Just give me time,” Hym said.
“How? You haven’t been able to fix your problem for all these years. What’s changed?” Makar said, his voice laden with pity.
Hym winced.
“Go home, Hym. We can talk more about this when you…”
“I’m getting a companion omega,” Hym said to shut him up.
“What?” the surprise in his voice was refreshing.
“Yes.”
Makar stared at him for a while, making him feel uncomfortable.
Hym fidgeted.
“Tarymn thinks it would help.” He offered.
Makar looked thoughtful.
"I know it's not what you want to hear right now. But I'm trying...just...give me time."
Makar nodded. “Having someone there would help. You won’t keep yearning for…” he trailed off, rubbing his face. “You’ve done so much for your planet. It's time you did something for yourself. When are you getting the companion omega?”
“Soon,” he said.
“Okay. Let’s see what happens after you spend time with your omega.”
“And the case?” Hym asked.
He balled his hands into fists, bracing for whatever he had to say. Don’t kick me out, he silently begged.
“I’ll temporarily hand it over to Cali and Iror. Once you’re back, you can take over. I hope your companion omega can drag you back to reality and help your wolf settle. Imagine if you could control him," Makar whistled. "He would be a nice asset in the field. Damn, you would be unstoppable,” He slapped his back and walked back into the command centre. The door closed behind him, shutting him out.
Hym turned away, determined to be back in that room soon. But he had to find a companion omega first.
He tried hard not to think of Jamue. But his gorgeous face filled his mind. The omega would have been perfect. He responded to him already – his body craved his. But he knew the omega would never agree to be his companion omega.
I’ll find someone else, Hym told himself.
Chapter 8
Jamue
Jamue couldn’t believe he allowed Sirhe to convince him to go home and have dinner with their parents.
He said he'd talk to their father. After a week of waiting for him to perform a miracle, Sirhe ended up doing what their father wanted – bringing him home.
Jamue sighed, angry with himself for giving in so easily.
He watched his brother navigate through the early evening traffic as they headed to the affluent part of the capital. The national district had nothing on this part of the city. All the wealthy families lived and thrived there, shutting out the rest of the planet.
The houses were big, glamorous, and ostentatious. After so many years away, it was hard to believe he was once part of this world. He'd experienced so much in the commune that he realized how unfair life was. And now, his father wanted him to return to this life – to bond with an alpha who was part of this world.
His stomach roiled.
He knew he had to face his father, but he wasn’t up for it tonight. Not after his unexpected meeting with Hym – twice.
