What? He stepped back, frightened by his thoughts.
The alpha’s face fell.
Jamue’s stomach tightened, feeling like he shouldn’t have done that.
“I…” he started to say, but someone moved from behind him, shoving him to the side.
“Is it crowded inside that we have to stand in the doorway?” Jamue gasped as he took him in. There were two of them. “Hey, nice to see you again,” the new alpha said.
Again? Jamue frowned.
The alpha laughed. “I’m not usually that forgettable. We met at Mac and Deltta’s bonding ceremony, remember?”
Jamue’s frown deepened as he tried to remember. That night was a hazy memory full of pitiful tears and way too many spirits. He’d drowned himself in them as he tried to be supportive and happy for his friend - while he died a little inside.
He’d known that Mac and Deltta would end up bonded, but the reality of it had hit him hard.
He didn’t remember a lot about that night, the alpha included.
“Of course,” Jamue lied. He glanced at his twin – no wonder he’d thought he was familiar. “Thank you for your visit. Feel free to sample our spirits, and we hope to see you at our official tasting event.”
“Of course,” the alpha said, turning to the serving bot, leaving him with his twin.
Jamue’s stomach tightened, but he pushed the feeling away.
“Enjoy,” he said with a tiny bow and walked away.
Well, more like, ran away.
He pushed through the double doors that led into their workspace and rushed up the stairs. He didn’t stop until he was in his room with the door closed behind him.
He gasped for breath, about to pass out. Maybe this time he’d get sick.
He’d dared long for an alpha’s touch and grew wet for him.
Any minute now, nausea would hit him. He wrapped his arms around his stomach. His heart thundered.
Jamue moved to the washroom and stood over the waste bot. He didn’t want to make a mess like last time.
He stood there, breathing slow and steady, waiting… nothing happened.
That was strange.
After a while, he returned to his room and sat on the bed, afraid to go back downstairs.
He felt stupid for hiding, but... he couldn’t handle being in the same room as him.
An hour later, he made his way downstairs. He was surprised that Mac hadn’t come to check on him. He turned to the distilling machine and immediately knew why.
Next to the omega were the twin alphas. They hung on his every word as he explained his spirit-making process.
Jamue’s heart skipped a beat as the alpha turned towards him as if he could sense him standing there.
His eyes crawled down his body, setting him on fire.
Dammit.
“Let me fuck you.”The words he’d whispered so desperately echoed in his mind.
