“You know I’m kidding, right?”

“I know, but you might be right. There's someone out there who might be on my level.”

“So, it seems,” Hym said thoughtfully, staring at the monitor.

How the fuck did they do it?

“What are you thinking?”

“Whoever is behind this must have a lot to hide.”

“And resources. Hacking into the detention centre is not easy. You'd need powerful workstations for it to work. It took me hours to get through their firewall. They erased an entire day of footage. Can you imagine how much power and brute force they’d need to do that?” Roc whistled. The admiration in his voice was clear as day. “I’m trying to trace where the hack came from, but I might not find anything. Whoever did this, covered their tracks well. It’s all seamless. It’s as if they were never in the system. There’s nothing to follow.” He shook his head, a tiny smile gracing his lips.

“Are you popping wood for the hacker?”

“Fuck you,” Roc turned away from him.

Hym laughed. “You’ll find them. You find the unfindable.”

Mollified, Roc turned to him. “Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I’m not making any promises. As I said, this is some high-tech stuff. I might not be able to find anything.”

“I trust you,” Hym squeezed his shoulder. He stared at the screen, feeling like they were missing something...and it was right there.

No ordinary person could do this. Were they looking at another alpha in the council?

The alphas who attacked Deltta had heavy artillery, so it was possible.

Tarymn wasn’t going to like this.

The double doors opened, and Makar walked in. His commander’s eyes landed on him and narrowed.

Shit, Hym silently swore.

“Should you be here?” he asked in that aggressive way of his. Hym had learned not to react to his aggression – strong alphas tended to show their aggression even though they didn’t mean to. They were eleven in the Alpha Force, including their commander.

Fights would break out if they didn’t keep themselves in check.

“I…”

“I…” he raised a brow. “You’re thinking of a lie to feed me? Don’t. I know you didn’t sleep. Or you wouldn’t be here.”

“I slept.”

Makar’s eyes drifted to the monitor. “Go to the medical centre. Shiva is still there. He was tending to Thron.”

“I’m fine.”

At his words, the room turned oppressive as Makar’s scent thickened. Hym bit back his aggression as his wolf rose to challenge him. Makar was his alpha. He couldn’t challenge him even though his wolf was stronger.

Denying his instinct, Hym took a couple of steps back.

“I’ll go,” he said, walking to the door.

“Make sure you talk to him and find out what the fuck is wrong with you. Don’t just go there because I told you to,” Makar called after him. “Talk, dammit!”

Hym snarled at the empty hallway as he made his way to the other side of the base.

What the fuck did they want from him?
