Hym kissed his birthmarked cheek and held him close.
He kissed him there a lot.
“Do you like my mark?” he asked sleepily.
“Yes. I was obsessed with it the first time we met,” he said, tightening his arms around him. “I love everything about you.”
Jamue moaned happily, drifting off to sleep.
Chapter 26
Jamue
Jamue could feel everyone’s eyes on him. They'd barely focused on their food as they looked at the claiming mark on his neck and then at Hym.
“I told you he'd claim him,” Luci said.
The others groaned.
“What?”
“You don’t have to point out everything you see,” Tarymn said sarcastically.
The omega pouted. “You’re no fun.”
Hym’s eyes dropped to his neck proudly. He hadn’t stopped looking at the claiming mark since they woke up. At least he wasn't touching or kissing it now.
“When are you having your bonding ceremony?”
“Soon,” Hym stated.
Tarymn shook his head. “I thought you’d be in a hurry.”
“There’s no hurry,” Hym said. “We are taking our time falling in love.”
“Are you sure about that?” Tarymn asked, looking over their shoulder. “His parents are here.”
What?
Jamue turned and watched his parents follow Pitra out the door. Hym took his hand and gave him a reassuring squeeze. They got to their feet as they got closer. His parents’ eyes fell on his neck, reminding him of what they'd done. They’d looked at him there over the years, and he hadn’t known why. Now, he knew.
They took his mate away from him.
Jamue got pissed off all over again. His eyes dropped to his parents. His omega father could barely look him in the eye.
Was he sorry for what he’d done?
“We apologize for budging in on you like this, but we were worried about our son. We wanted to come earlier, but Sirhe said he was recovering,” his dad said, addressing Hym. “But I’m glad to see he's well.” His dad turned to him, a tiny smile pulling at his lips. He looked so sad.
Fuck, the sadness in his eyes ripped his insides to shreds. He hated seeing him like that.
“Dad,” Jamue said.
His dad opened his arms, and he ran into them. The alpha wrapped his arms around him, his scent soothing him.
“I’m sorry for everything we’ve done. I’m sorry,” he murmured. Jamue clung to him. His dad held him for a few more minutes and then pulled away. Jamue faced his father, waiting. But his father continued to stare at his feet.
“Maybe you two should talk. Isa?” his dad said.
