“Do you know why I’m here?” Deltta asked.
Sula nodded. “It’s because of the poisoning.”
Air whooshed out of his lungs, causing his knees to feel weak. “You poisoned our food.”
“Yes.” Sula finally looked up at him.
“You’re going to tell me everything. I mean everything.” Deltta stepped close to him. The omega gasped, trembling. Deltta felt sorry for him. He was so young, and he looked like he’d been abused. Now that he stood close to him, he could see scars along his arms. Fuck. Deltta shoved his sympathy aside and stared at him expectantly.

An hour later, Deltta was back at Tarymn’s house.
He stared at the beta, waiting for him to confess. But he was still holding out. Sitting on the floor in Tarymn’s guest room, his head hung between his drooping shoulders, he said the same shit.
“Let me go. You have nothing on me.”
Deltta wanted to pummel him into the floor, but he couldn’t do that. The authorities won’t accept a confession obtained by violent means. The confessor had to offer the information. It was bullshit, but they had to follow the rules.
“Not until you confess to everything Pharyi has done to me.” Deltta sat on the bed.
The beta looked at him. “I won’t confess.”
Deltta smiled. “Are you sure about that?”
“You can wipe that smug look off your face. Nothing will ever make me talk. Let me go. I have shit to do.” The beta got to his feet. He stretched as if he had no care in the world.
“I think you will because I have him.” Deltta pointed to the door. Tarymn opened it, and in walked Sula.
The beta paled.
“Sula?”
Deltta’s smile widened. He probably looked smug now. “You’re finally going to talk, aren’t you? He told me some interesting stories.”
“He has nothing to do with this. Please let him go.”
“No. He’s the one who poisoned me. He said you told him to do it. You even gave him the Repinuj.” Deltta shrugged. “Frankly, I don’t care who gets punished for this as long as the truth comes out. I brought him here because I wanted you to do the right thing considering what happened to him.”
“I’ll talk…I’ll talk. Please leave him out of this. He doesn’t know anything. He did everything I asked him to. I gave him the Repinuj, made sure it was at its highest concentration. I prepared everything. Not him. I…”
“Wait. What?” Deltta stepped close to the beta. “Highest concentration. What do you mean by that?”
“I… didn’t mean that. I…” the beta backpedalled.
Deltta invaded his space. “You better tell me the truth.”
The beta gulped, staring at him.
“Now,” Deltta growled.
“Normally, the animals are given the lowest dosage to ease them into their heat. But Pharyi wanted the drug to work fast. I gave you the highest dosage.”
“What the fuck?” Tarymn asked. “Nylune too?”
“Yes.”
That sick motherfucker.
