Deltta was a complicated alpha. Mac wanted a name that encompassed everything he was. He inspired it, after all.

Chapter 13

Mac

Mac caught his breath.

The large building shimmered as the sun hit its glass planes. UA wasn’t his favorite sport, but he had to admit, the sphere was impressive. He should have known his brother would take them there first.

“It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?” Griean said happily. “You should see the inside. I couldn’t believe how enormous it is.”

“I bet,” Mac said with a laugh.

“It’s a shame we can’t go inside. I should have brought Djohn.”

“It’s okay. I’ll see it next time,” Mac said, returning to the hover pod.

“Next up, the council of alpha’s offices,” Griean said enthusiastically.

“Yay,” Mac fake cheered, stifling a yawn. Jamue nudged him.

Leisure room, he mouthed.

Mac’s shoulders tensed. Making spirits and letting Faria sell them to his customers was one thing but presenting what he made to some strange alpha or beta was another. He wasn’t sure he could do it. Meeting strangers was hard for him. He never knew how they’d react.

Nervously, he touched the bottle. What if they didn’t like him and thought he was weird? Would they give his spirit a chance?

Doubt gnawed at his insides. Mac let his hair drop over his face, hiding.

Jamue nudged him again.

“I…” he opened his mouth to tell him he couldn’t do it. But Griean spoke.

“Do you see that building? They have the best play parks in the capital. I’m going to take my cub there once he’s old enough,” he told him. Mac lifted his head when Griean’s words registered.

“He? Is it a boy?” he asked.

“Yes. I didn’t tell you?” Griean said. “We found out…”

“Sorry to interrupt you.” Jamue gave him a quizzical look before focusing on Griean.

“We were hoping to visit one of the popular leisure rooms in the capital. Do you think you can take us there?” Jamue asked sweetly.

“A leisure room?” Griean frowned.

“Yes,” Jamue said.

“I guess you want to unwind after your heat. I can’t go with you.” Griean pointed at his belly. “Will you be alright alone?”

“Yes,” Jamue said.

“Okay,” Griean said, navigating through the afternoon traffic. He drifted to the nearest packing dome “Let’s go. I’ll show you where it is.”

Griean led the way to the leisure room. Patrons went in and out of the double doors, giving Mac a glimpse inside. Serene lights illuminated tables, giving off a dark, sensual atmosphere. Faria’s leisure room was beautiful, but this one was in a league of its own.

“I'll fetch you later then,” Griean offered.

“Don’t stress yourself, Griean,” Mac said. “We’ll be fine.”
